The best way would be to use RBE to export and edit your BIOS with the desired clock speeds and then flash it.

HD 6900 Series have dual BIOS so it's really fool proof.

I finally have this card and I can say it's not really that quiet. The fan at 20% (minimum) makes an annoying grinding/whirring? noise. At 22/23% it's quiet but not enough. No, the X model (6Gbps) simply does not support AAM. My 640GB Blue is perfectly quiet.

Well, after using the HX650 for a few weeks now I can safely say that it is indeed [subjectively] louder than the HX520. Not by a large margin mind you, but still louder.

I've replaced the fans with the new ones.

Old ones @ min speed: 1200rpm
New ones @ min speed: 1050~1100rpm (maybe I didn't seat them properly?)


The problem (noise) seems to be gone but I don't want to jinx it

Just got a reply from Gelid support. They are sending me some replacement fans, free of charge

+1 for Gelid. Great support, right up there with Crucial, Corsair and Logitech.


Maybe now I can finally enjoy my Sandy Bridge upgrade in peace and quiet

If they ask me to send the whole cooler back I might as well throw the fans in the trash and ghetto mod some new ones. Postage ain't cheap

Hitachi Feature Tool doesn't even detect it. So the logical conclusion is that the EALX version (6Gbps) doesn't support AAM!

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I simply cannot enable/change AAM on my WD10EALX!

WinAAM --> doesn't detect HDD
HDDScan --> says it doesn't support AAM.

I would try Hitachi Feature Tool but somehow I can't boot into to my boot usb flash drive with this Asus board.

I can also confirm that the Dell U2311H is silent at 100% brightness.
