I wonder who makes these SilentX fans. There are a lot fewer fan manufacturers than the number of brands would suggest. It is hard to believe that a small company like SilentX has technology that others don't have. I would not be surprised if the SilentX fans are actually 24V fans that run at low R...

Re: Running fans from a wall plug
True--I know Sunon makes some, but it seems to me AC fans are usually rated to be not as quiet as DC brushless ones, for some reason. (Anyone know why?)lenny wrote:By the way, there are AC 120mm fans available too.

I'd say the fan grill at the rear isn't too restrictive, but the FRONT is a different matter. It has a solid plexiglass wall with a reflective prism behind it and some LEDs, creating a spectacular blue lighting effect. The only ventilation it really has at the front is a tiny little place for air to...

A couple clarifications/corrections to what I said earlier: I just realized you did say these fans won't be anywhere near your computer. I assume that's why the need for a wall transformer. And as to the wires: When I said twist them together, what I meant was: twist all the reds together and...

Running 4 DC-powered fans from a wall transformer ought to work, so long as your wall transformer is rated to provide enough amperage. I'd suggest that you start by adding up how many amps the 4 fans require, then multiplying that by 2, in order to make sure you have enough headroom for the peak dra...

Well, I don't have any pics of my own offhand, but here's a link to some pics at Tricod's website:Ralf Hutter wrote:Got a link to some pics of your case?

I have a Tricod case, housing an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ system, with a Soyo SY-KT600 Dragon Plus motherboard, and a Coolmax Taurus CX-350 PSU (350-watt, with a 120mm fan).Ralf Hutter wrote:What case and hardware do you have? You may need to make some modifications to your basic setup.

Yeah--I saw that page... That 28dB is what worries me--I still dunno how the M1A will compare with the Vantec Stealth though, cause I doubt the Vantec fan was really 21dB--it seemed to have quite a bit of bearing noise. I've also tried the Antec Smartcool fan, but STAY AWAY FROM THAT FAN!! They clai...

How quiet is the Panaflo M1A?
I recently chucked a Vantec Stealth 80mm fan I had in the rear of my case, cause even it is too loud for me--I dunno why. Anyway, I am wondering now, how loud is the Panaflo M1A? I just ordered one and am waiting for it to arrive, but I am wondering if it will be any quieter than the Vantec Stealth....

I suggest you people read this post for a definitive answer:
http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewto ... torder=asc
Basically, if it has a "BX" suffix, it DOES have a tach, but if it does not, then it MIGHT still have a tach, but no guarantees.

Is the Evercool 80mm fan any good?
Hello all, Well, after trying out the Nexus 80mm quiet fan for a while, I've decided that it's time to replace it. :( Unfortunately, I *LOVE* the quietness of this fan, but I've determined that it just doesn't flow enough air to keep my system cooled properly... So, I am now in the quest for the qui...

Re: Are these temperatures okay?
Those are cpu temps within the "normal" range but are kind of high for just idling. Chassis Temp? If that's case temp, then that sure looks high. Why not try MBM and check your temperatures? 1) What's MBM, and where do I find it? 2) I think the "Chassis temp" is the case temp, though I assume the s...

Hello all, I just got a Nexus AXP-3200 for my AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (Thoroughbred) processor. First of all: MAN, oh man is this thing quiet!!! It's like a night and day difference between this thing and the stock AMD cooler... And at 331 grams, it's only 31 grams over AMD's recommended limit, so I hav...

A rating of 19 dBA for a 70mm fan spinning at 2400 rpm seems highly optimistic. As you might know from even just skimming these forums, our reference quiet fan, the Panaflo 80L is rated for 1900 rpm at 21 dBA. It's hard to imagine how this HS could have a fan spin 500 rpm faster, be jammed up again...

Oops--my apologies, I was thinking of the wrong post when I replied... The Asus motherboard may be different.
Also, assuming the CPU isn't seriously overclocked, I believe the AlCu version has nearly the same cooling capacity as the pure Cu, but it weighs a lot less.

So the Zalman 7000A-AlCu bolts directly to the motherboard? There might be a problem with the Soyo KT400 motherboard in that case. I bring this up only because I happen to have a Soyo KT600 Dragon Plus motherboard, and although it does have heatsink mounting holes, I'm not sure it has the clearance ...

How about the Nexus AXP-3200
Hello, I have much the same problem with my AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (Thoroughbred) system. I bought it thinking the stock heatsink would be great, cause I'm so used to the relatively decent coolers Intel packages with its CPUs, but boy was I wrong. The stock AMD cooler has got to be one of the LOUDEST o...

I think it'd be neat if SPCR would review this unit. After seeing SPCR's PSU reviews, all others just seem like total jokes in comparison. Even worse is that some of the other reviewers out there don't even bother to open the units up, or do any serious scientific testing, let alone take any real me...

Coolmax Taurus CX series
Hello, Anyone out there have any experience with the Coolmax Taurus CX series with the 120mm fan? It seems very attractively priced, and I am wondering if it would be a good buy. I would buy a Seasonic Super Tornado, since its very high efficiency seems appealing, but I'm not sure I can afford to pa...
