You normally get very little benefit using a bigger fan to suck or blow through a smaller-size opening. Of course there's always the bling factor.....

Sounds like you have an older PSU. A slower fan would make it quieter, but might not cool well enough. An upgrade to a new/quieter PSU should be your first priority.....IMO.
