Re: SSD Crucial Bx 100 - rattling occasionally.

No your SSD is not rattling.

Try the steps previously indicated. Stop the fans temporarily and the noise will go away.

Re: SSD Crucial Bx 100 - rattling occasionally.

So why i am hearing sometimes that rattle noise from ssd then ? I am sure its coming from ssd area. Also i am sure that rattle is not coming from any fans ( cpu fan and case back fan not rattle ). Noise coming from ssd area starting/stopping when i am touching the pc case . Try the steps I mentione...

Re: SSD Crucial Bx 100 - rattling occasionally.

Disconnect the SSD from the system and still see if the noise happens. You could also temporarily stop all fans and see if the rattling still happens. I can't see a rattling noise possibly coming from an SSD unless it literally has a screw loose. A quiet squeal or chirping sound as others suggest is...

Thanks for the questions. Was the Ninja 4 mounting mod just so it will be closer to the back fan or so that it will fit at all? and what kind of mod did you do exactly? Re: Question about coil whine

There is certainly truth in the combination of components causing coil whine in some circumstances. I used to have a 9600GT which made quite a bit of coil whine under load when connected to an Enermax Modu82+. Changed to a Seasonic and it went away. Some individuals have reported progress by coverin...

Re: Replacing a Tricool fan from an Antec p183

For CPU, sure. Doubtful for case fan inputs. Add to this the rather rudimentary fan control, and it leads me to recommend ignoring mobo control and just having a fixed rpm silent fan. The case fans will be controllable but I believe may only be in DC mode and will be controllable thermally within a...

Re: Replacing a Tricool fan from an Antec p183

Ok, that's a 7 yr old mobo design, so it'll support 3-pin voltage controlled chassis fans and not PWM...and since it's 7 years old, the mobo fan control is going to be minimal. Plenty of 7 year old motherboards have perfectly good PWM fan control. It has Asus Q-Fan 2 so should be just fine with PWM...

Could we perhaps have some more info? Which CPU? What CPU cooler do you have currently? What motherboard are you using? Do you currently use a DC or PWM fan? 4.5 inches from which case side? An exact measurement in mm would be required to get the optimum heatsink. What case do you have? How are your...

Re: Sticking a heatsink on back of mobo with thermal paste..

Well you don't actually need a heatsink specifically for the purpose. You could attach another matching heatsink on the other side and use some long bolts to screw the two heatsinks together through the mounting holes. You could even double up with another CR-80EH with some thermal pads stuck to it....

Thermalright used to offer a backside heatsink, the IFX-10. Here is a review: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/5600-thermalright-ifx-10-motherboard-backside-cooler-review.html Now you wouldn't want to just use thermal paste to stick a heatsink on the back, you risk short...

This case was one of my options. How is it? Wonderful if set up properly. Using a fan cooled PSU fighting against the rear fan is a mistake most reviewers make. Re: Upgrading case and cpu cooler

I would also look at a better tower cooler in your existing case first, before committing to a new case. That case could perhaps be improved with a bit of modification. If you were to soft mount the hard disks in the 5.25" this will drastically lower your sound floor. I would have thought that with ...

To those critiquing this build, what combination of fans and cooler type would you suggest instead for optimal airflow? 140mm in front and no outtake? Inntake on one side panel, and outtake on the other? For a simple build like this (only the CPU is a major heat source) you would be best off focuss...

as you can see the dust filtered side panel does allow for a lot of airflow to reach the cooler and I have done the smoke test and air is coming out of the bottom half of the side panel and is being drawn in from the top half. That shows the airflow through the case is very inefficient. You are pul...

Re: Best cooler to run a semi-passive i7 6700K on a FT05?

The main problem is that the FT05 has a CPU cooler size limit of 162mm, and the Thermalright HR-22 is 159mm tall. Sounds to me more like it's 3mm too short. There is no reason why having clearance against the side of the case is good, if anything it is bad as it means there is a path for airflow th...

Re: Quietest Case. Ever.

There's no such thing. Cases themselves don't make any noise, it's the components that go in them that make the noise. Noise insulation is possible in a case but is wasted if you have quiet components in the first place.

So, what components do you want to put in the case?

That's not possible due to tight budget, I guess. The price difference between different manufacturers versions of the same card may well be larger, and for what? Re: looking for RPM readings of some GB GTX 960 cards

If you want the card to be really quiet then swap the cooler. I use an Accelero S3 with a 120mm fan that does little more than 300rpm at idle and around 800rpm at load. That's much quieter.

Thanks for the comments. I'm planning on making a i7-6700 workstation without a GPU. Do you reckon that could be adequately cooled in this setup? Yes, if you have the correct CPU cooler placement. Re: First build - Quiet, Mini-ITX, Gaming HTPC

How important is a compact system to you? The Define Nano S isn't that small for MiniITX. I could put that level of components into the Metis that I have with only a bit of a mod to the top panel to bring in more air to the graphics card. I'd be careful about using an SFX PSU for noise.
