you can still try to send some of them.

check the state of the queue, (-queueinfo) and if there are any finished WU that the deadline hasnt expired, you can use the send command with the queue position.

of course, first make sure you have connectivity...

So, I went and tried ubuntu 7.04 using vmware in windows, and I finished a 1440 point WU in less than a day. I used the calculation suggested here , and it suggests I'm getting approximately ~2000PPD. Not sure how accurate the estimate is. But, even using VMware, it's extremely fast. I've decided a...

Sorry, the Linux SMP client will only run on a 64 bit os.

No chance on it running on the P3's the P4's may be ok if the processor supports EMT64.

Sorry, the confusion stems from calling the F@H client a "core". What I meant was:

run the GPU client in one CPU core and in the other CPU core run the SMP client (instead of the normal client)

I am not sure of this but I woould sugest running the GPU client and then changing the affinity of the core thread (the one that takes up the CPU) to use only a specific core. Then run the SMP client and also change its 4 core threads (FahCore_a1.exe in windows) to use the other core. Even though th...

VMware :?: can you explain a little about what this is and how to configure it? VMWare Server is software that allows you to run a different OS from within windows. I am running Ubuntu under VMware in Windows (XP) and it rocks.

THis is a great way to mantain windows functionality without compromising F@H.

Highly recommended.

How to setup a Virtual Server/Client with LINUX + SMP Client

Hi

It seems the best way to run F@H on a multi proc/core machine is running the LINUX SMP on a LINUX virtual machine on Virtual Server or Virtual PC .

Does anybody know how to set this up?

Thanks.

I installed the Win SMP client on a P4 3.0 GHZ with 1 MB that is taking 3 days to finish the 2610 wu.

1500 point / 3days = 500 ppd

Not bad for a Non-multi core machine, and a lot better than the non SMP Win client.

BUT yeah, the Win SMP is not as good as then Linux SMP.
