I probably have to agree with GamingGod. Since this is just an aluminum heatsink, there is no chance it would preform as good as 7000alcu. But then again, it has no problems with a 57W radeon 9700 pro so a 2400+ (53.7W typical 68.3W max)AMD Cpu should be withing range of cooling. One way it to try. ...

Well, risked it. 12V ok. As for frying... Well the board was free along with the chip. Its semi dead. So no worries there about frying that. The VGA silencer, I payed for. :) First impressions of using the VGA silencer to cool the CPU... Tricky. Since there is no way to mount it... Yet. I have to us...

VGA Silencer CPU cooling :)
Well going to start my first experiment, but I need to know how much power would the fan require. NOt shure how much Radeon97 provides. I'm going for full 12V, but the last thing i want to do is fry the fan.

Well, the idea of the socket 754 being obsolete in a few months is incorrect. THe socket will live for some time to come. It will be AMD's entry level single channel setup. All chips on the 939 will have dual channel support. (not much of a difference in performace, yet) AMD 64 (939) will be dual ch...
