There isn't really a good answer to this question. You need to run your fans fast enough so your computer isn't over heating, but aside from that, its very personal how much noise you can deal with. Personally, I'd turn em down until you are okay with the noise, and monitor your PC to ensure its tem...

Re: Water Cooling Heresy

5. With modern CPUs, if the pump breaks the CPU throttles and shuts down long before any significant damage is done to the processor. I had an old e4300 in a watercooling loop and the pump broke down. It throttled and shut down. I ran the watercooling quite happily pumpless with the CPU underclocke...

Thats an amazing looking case! I use a Laing D5 vario pump... once its dialed down to 3 or less its pretty quiet. However, before you go changing pumps, you should check if you have any build of gunk (algea etc) in your blocks, and make sure you don't have any kinks in your tubes that could cause fl...

Which I'll do, and may work... but it suggests that the firmware is corrupting itself, which is scary. Alternatively, it could be some ba...

I am currently in the midst of issues with my OCZ Vertex 60. One thing to keep in mind is that the firmware is very new (relative to HDDs) in these things, and it borked firmware can and will cause data loss and corruption. While my sample size of one is not exactly conclusive, these types of drives...

Typically when people say things like "sleeve bearings don't like being mounted horizontally", they mean the fan is horizontal, ie blowing air up/down. Basically think of it as saying that the fan is mounted on a horizontal/vertical surface (so the air is blowing perpendicular to the plane the fan i...

The Liang DDC/Swiftech MCP350 is reported to by a pretty quiet pump. I haven't heard one myself, though it's supposed to be quieter than a D5/MCP655. Swiftech reports it to be ~25dBa @ 12v, and it can be undervolted to 8 or 9v. Your radiator isn't really a good choice for low fan speed operation, t...

I don't have this pump, nor have I heard it, so I can't say... however, I would be concerned about 2 things. Given the pump is inside the res it might be hard to de-couple it from the case, which I find is a huge problem with pump noise. Secondly, from what little I can find about it on the net, it ...

In my opinion, bonestonne is basically right with some qualifications: 1. Cooling often doesn't work they you reasonably expect it to. Cooling seems to be not fully governed by obvious logic. There are just too many subtle and non-subtle variables. Often even the experts are surprised by flying bum...

Sure its not listed... but the GPU block seems very adjustable. You should pull the heat sink off the card and see if you can make the block fit. I think you should have one fan in the case, as there needs to be some air movement to cool the hard drives, ram etc (not much, but some). Once you have e...

From what I can read off that graph (and I had nothing to do with this, so this is purely my interpretation), I would say that the Gentle Typhoon, Yate Loon, San Ace and Panaflow all perform well at the low end of the scale -- ie with all fans under volted to varying degrees. The caveat here is t...

Yeah its a bit nuts with the number of fans on it... and its also not entirely accurate to compare fans based on RPM, as some fans blow more air at the same RPM.... although, as a crude generalisation it works. Given the topic of this particular forum, this graph is probably most useful: http://img1...

The Thermochill PA120.3 series and PA140.3 series are designed for low pressure fans. They have about 10 fins per inch. The Black Ice 480GTX has about 19 double stacked fins, and the Feser Monsta 120.3 has about 12 per inch. There's pic in this link: http://martin.skinneelabs.com/HWlabs480GTX-Revie...

72c core temp is okay under Linpack load, depending on your ambient temps. Prime95 will likely run 10c (or more) cooler than linpack... so it really should be fine.
