It's too bad that the current Zalman aftermarket offering is said to not fit on 6800 cards.

I could probably get away with not running the fan altogether, since I only have a Geforce4 Ti4200, but I dont have any means of monitoring the temps on the graphics card, so I would rather play it safe and leave the fan there. I have a ZM80C-HP with the ZM-OP1 on a Ti4400. Once a stray connector g...

I was really impressed with the paint job on my AMB. That being said, the imperfections you mentioned probably wouldn't prompt me to RMA the case. Return shipping costs for something like that aren't cheap.

Re: Samsungs: How much Idle High Frequency Noise??

To those that have the touted Samsungs. How much idle high frequency noise can you hear (like how far away does it dissapear)? I think this highlights one of the down falls of the terminology that's being used to describe hard drive accoustic properties. For me, the most irritating hard drive noise...

Well, it existed. The problem now is where it may still exist? The one I picked up a week or two ago from the local MicroCenter was an A1 revision. They also had a bunch of Super Tornados without the "it's normal for the fan to be stopped" stickers. That's one way to try to determine if they have a...

I know that the SPCR review of the Super Tornado sample found it to be very quiet, but remember that while Super Silencer PSUs are marketed as being quiet, the Super Tornado PSUs are maketed as pushing a lot of air and keeping hot systems cooler.

I ran prime95 and 3DMark2001 for over an hour in a room with an ambient temperature of 26-27 Celsius to see what this Super Silencer PSU might do. I did notice a faint whine which I think was coming from the PSU fan. I think in an intense gaming session (with sound) in which these conditions might a...

Re: Expected failure time Barracuda IV

I've been shopping for Seagate Barracuda IV 40 gig hard drives, the ST340016A HD to be specific. And I've noticed that they appear to have only a one year warantee against failure. The industry as a whole tried to move to a 1 year warranty standard in order to reduce costs. It's not really a reflec...

It's sweet that every drive bay is a 5.25" bay. That allows you freedom to install more optical drives, fancontrollers, easily decouple hard drives, etc. I say 'down with 3.5" drive bays!' :)

I hope the Antec P160 ahs a motherboard tray like this, where the pci slots slid eout together with the tray. I don't understand the fascination with removable motherboard trays. In order to truly remove the tray, you'd still need to disconnect every cable that is connected to it. I have a removabl...

May I ask where you picked up the Antec 3700AMB **without** the power supply? The local places near me... Vancouver BC, won't sell the case to me without the psu. Directron will sell the SLK3700AMB without a power supply. They even give you a $32 credit for it too, making the cost of the case $33 +...

GMC Neo Classic Airflow Idea

It looks like the Neo Classic has an additional 5.25 drive bay at the bottom where the io panel is at. I was thinking if the panel was removed that one of these coolers could be installed. I have one and by default it exhausts and is pretty loud at 12V, but I would think that it could be modded to r...

I would guess it's a pretty decent comprimise of air-flow for silence. (With the opening toward the floor, and none in the front of the case, that should block some case noise from escaping directly out the front.) The opening looks similar to the one on the Neo Classic and there's been concern abo...

The 3R System site has a bottom-up picture showing the front air intake.

I wonder if that's adequate for good air flow.

Re: BTX casings to push for cooler and quieter PCs?

So what do you guys think? Should we wait for BTX or splurge on ATX casings now? I think BTX cases will require at least a new motherboard. I'd imagine that you'd only consider going that route if you are ready to build a new machine. Just don't buy an ATX case expecting to transfer it to your next...

Wow, this is such a glowing review. I'm skeptical, though. I've been taken by some glowing review comments relating to noise. I'd love to see what someone here at SPR would think about this case.
