Yes I have 1200RPM Slipstreams at 5V and yes, airflow is the one causing noise. My system: -Intel Q9550 @ 3.8GHz (1.25V)-> HR-01+, ducted and with AF 12025 PWM, most of time running at 480RPM -Mushkin Redline 8GB of RAM -Antec P182 -two Slipstreams running at 620RPM (one at back with cut grills, one...

Now I have Slipstream for intake and exhaust, running at 650RPM and AC 12025 PWM on heatsink. I'm using asus fanexpert to control PWM behaviour, so aggressive ramping isn't problem. AC is running 450RPM on idle and it's completely silent, but Slipstreams are too loud for me (sound of air moving). I ...

There's one more thing. This year I'm planning to buy SSD. With SSD for system, faster Samsung would be pointless and slower Samsung is like holy grail for us silencers. I actually have experience with HD502HI's noise (I tried it when building some cheap system for friend) but I never tried it in my...

New HD: hd502hi or hd502hj ?
Hi! I finally decided to change HD for my PC, but i'm not sure what to get. There's my system: -Intel Q9550 @ 3.8GHz -> HR-01+, ducted and with AF 12025 PWM, most of time running at 480RPM -Mushkin Redline 8GB of RAM -Antec P182 -two Slipstreams running at 620RPM (one at back with cut grills, one on...

I found another budget cooler: Scythe Samurai ZZ, for only 20€. Still no thoughts? I think that cooler of Katana 3 is better (since it's tower cooler and will work better in Antec 300), but Shuriken has better fan, I tested those fans from Musashi and I was impressed. Please give me any suggestion...

Scythe Shuriken rev.B VS Scythe Katana 3
Hi!
I can get both coolers for the same price (22€). Which will be better for cooling Pentium D 830? Size doesn't matter, i just want to keep CPU at reasonable temperature and sound footprint, now CPU hits 82°C at full load and 50°C at idle with stock Intel cooler from Q9550 E0.
Thanks!

I had the same issue with HD4890. Cooling VRMs is very difficult. But i found a temporarily solution. I mounted bottom red part of stock cooler on the card (it's covering only VRM and memory, and mounted Musashi on GPU. VRM now stays under 100 degrees (fans on 7V). I recommend it for HD4870/HD4890 u...

They are 18cm fans, as far as I know they spins at 700RPM (same fans are in Raven case). The fan grill with dust filters on the back is for PSU. I think this will be a kickass case.

Silverstone Fortress FT02 (P182 killer?)
It's beautifull, it has sound dampening, hdd mounting should be good (?), slow 180mm fans, can it be great candidate for silent pc ? http://www.xcpus.com/Images/Docs/doc160/ft02_front%20angle.JPG http://www.xcpus.com/Images/Docs/doc160/ft02_panel%20off.JPG http://www.xcpus.com/Images/Docs/doc160/ft0...

I bought Q9550 and HD4670. I tested loudness and temperature of the PSU on idle and load. Temperature was tested with my hand on top of the psu (temperature of the PSU case) and exhaust air. Idle: PSU is lukewarm. Exhaust air is too. Sound level is equal to Slipstream 1200RPM on 9V. Load (prime95+fu...

Hi! Thanks for answers! I have GF 7600GS. I tried another thing: I removed clear plastic (designed to ensure that airflow from the fan doesn't simply silp out the back without travelling across the heatsinks), mounted on the fan ADDA fan. And it helped! Fan doesn't ramp up anymore, but idle sound of...

I would leave passive or any dual or more card set-up for cases that are designed to cope a lot seriously hot components, like Hundred-series from Antec or Storm series from Coolermaster Well, you are right with hot models (HD 48xx), but cards like 4670 and 4770 seems perfect candidate for passive ...

Passive HD 4770 in crossfire?
Hi! Are there any other coolers (beside Accelero S1), capable to passivly cool two HD 4770's, with only one exhaust fan in P182? Front fan will be mounted on upper HDD cage, so cards will actually be "active" cooled. Or it is worth waiting for something like this: http://www.dvhardware.net/news/powe...

Update: I was so pissed off that I decided to void the varanty and change noisy ADDA fan. I replaced old ADDA ad1212mb-a71gl (ball bearing, 2050rpm, 80,5 CFM, 38dB/a, Link ) with only fan that I have right now: Antec Tri Cool from P182, on low setting. After 20 minutes on full load, PSU is lukewarm,...
