The next step...
Well, I've finaly gotten my system to a relitively quiet state... And well, as you might guess I want to go the rest of the way to a truely 'silent' system. Now, I'm not looking to go fanless, but I think there are a number of things I can do to make my system quieter. Specs: X2 3800+ @ 2500mhz (Fre...

Re: Antec Phantom 500 or Seasonic S12 500W
Considering there is a price difference, I was wondering what some recommend. My main question though is, as i've been reading around, it seems like there are some options to ramp up the speed of the seasonic s12 fan, or have it automatically controlled? How would you go about doing this? Currently...

Re: Best silent performer: what about Hitashi T7K250 or WD25
Hi, After reading all the reviews in the world I still don't know which drive to choose. What I am looking for is a 200/250GB drive that performs very well but also is silent. I need it for audio recording so it has to be a good performer. What can you recommend and which ones should I avoid in you...

Mine did exactly the same thing. Uninstalling, then reinstalling drivers had no effect. I ended up hooking it up to a fan controller. If it's eVGA, there are bios updates available though I have not tried to flash my card with them yet. So, no, I have no solution for you lol. I hope you get it fixe...

I wrote to PCTekOnline a few weeks ago asking if they would ever have the black-framed D12SM-12's in stock again. This is what they deigned to reply: D12SM-12 is not available now and also there is no ETA available which means it won't be in stock in the near future. Ah, well thats no good. I wonde...

Re: Giving up on my BQE (too hot) what do I need for a P180?
What kind of exhaust fan are you running? I have no temp problems with my sonata. With a X2 3800 and Freezer 64 I have an idle of around 27C, I'm not sure what the load is I'll get back to you on that. I'm using a Nexus 120mm exhaust and another Nexus 120mm up in front of the drive cage. BoB Very o...

7800GT fan stuck at full speed...
I need some help guys, my 7800GT's fan is stuck at full speed. Usualy it would run at full speed from boot but then drop down to a much lower speed once I got to the desktop. I've tried manauly changing the speed with rivatuner, but no dice... It had no effect. So, do you guys have any ideas?

Re: Giving up on my BQE (too hot) what do I need for a P180?
The P180s airflow, while slightly better isn't going to vastly change your temps (actualy, some people have actualy had worse temps when coming from a 3700/sonata). What exactly are the temps you are getting? I'm using an XP-90 with 92mm Nexus. With my S12-430, I get idle 40C, dual Prime95 load 57C...

Re: Giving up on my BQE (too hot) what do I need for a P180?
Hey all, I've been fighting with this BQE for a few weeks now. It's running too hot up top. This is for a quiet (not silent) workstation that contains an X2 4400+, 2GB RAM, Asus A8N-SLI Prem, 4 Maxtor 300GB drives in RAID5, PCIe RAID card, 1 Raptor 74GB drive, DVDRW, and passive PCIe GeForce 6600. ...

You noticed the temp drop when you installed the 120mm fan? What mobo are you using? I had the fan blowing donward when I installed the 120mm Mad Dog. It was the only way to install it, since if I reversed it, the blades would touch the fins. My case is a desktop Silverstone LC17 (see here ), so I ...

One more update. I installed 2 nexus 92mm intake fans and checked temps with Vulcan's idea. Temps were not good. I put back the stock fan and guess what, temps didn't change much at all. So, 2 nexus 92mm fans didn't help me at all. Not even chipset temps or HD's temps seem better! They are fine, bu...

I look forward to the results from waters. Ok. Just finished some testing. I got around 3-4C higher without the shroud, using the Mad Dog @~12v. It's rotating at 1700rpm. It's a bit louder than the stock Zalman fan. Then I tried installing the shroud, just like yours. I'm getting 1-2 degrees higher...

Nice! I like that! The only problem is that I don't have any 120mm fan lying around! Now, what was your temp with the stock fan? And what fan did you use? Just to get some idea of what kind of improvement to expect. Well, this was done as an emergency fix... I accidently broke a blade off t...

Greetings, Does anybody else see the similarities between the ThermalRock and the SLK-3000B? The P180 is the quietest, and it's only sore point is the GPU temp, but the other temps are excellent. Source for non LED Yate Loon D12SM-12?
Has anyone seen a source for the regular version of the Yate Loon D12SM-12? I really don't want the clear frame of the LED model, I hear it makes a signifgant difference in the noise signature.

Re: P180-General Comments/Suggestions
Firstly--I don't like the fans theselves. They only have two-wire tails (no speed monitoring) and only have 4-pin (IDE-type) power plugs--so they don't directly attach to most fan controller units. At least, they should have regular 3-wire, 3-pin plugs, and then have 4-pin IDE adaptors that fit ont...

The Ninja is the best fanless heatsink. I don't think it's worth much, so just stick a fan on the XP/120 and be happy. It just so happens to be one of the best fanned heatsinks as well. The only thing I know of that give it some compeitition is the new SI-120, the Scythe Shogun, and probably the Za...
