I corrected it, Acook. Sorry about that. I didn't do the stock data since you had so many other things running at the time. I noticed even on my quad that having a bunch of stuff open in the background can actually lower your results. You game to run it @ stock levels clean?

I'm another rev.B3 @ 1.3250v statistic. :(

Just wondering, what's the lowest voltage people using when overclocked to 3GHz?
Mine does it on 1.2625V in the BIOS.

Okay all, this will be the final update; please don't post new VID data. I'm not totally sure the integrity of the data collected is that high. What I mean by that is I have read several reports of different reported VIDs for the same chip on different boards. I have also read about the VID changing...

As of 20-Sep-2007, we have data on over 100 Intel-based systems and on over 40 AMD-based systems. There are a few trends I picked-up on while browsing through the database. I put them into a single table and color coded them to make them easier to see. If you see a trend I missed, lemme know and I'l...

...but, the program kept running. X2 4400, 2 GB DDR400 dual channel, 6150 chipset and XP 32 bit stock clocked Cool man, thanks for the results. Can you report your mem timings and final mem core rate (i.e. 5-5-5-15 @ 400 MHz) Also who makes your motherboard? I never heard of a 6150 chipset. Thanks!

@Billy - I'm sure you can run the benchmark during some 'scheduled downtime' :) In all seriousness, it would be pretty cool to see how your octa core machine scales x264.

x264 video encoding benchmark

I put together a self-contained x264 video encoding benchmark. Techarp kindly agreed to host the file and results at this URL. Basically, you run the test encode and it will report back frames-per-second values for your machine @ it's clock/overclock level. You can run it at your stock settings and ...

I don't know about real-world apps, but WinRAR, for example, reeeeally likes memory bandwidth in its internal benchmark. Look at this thread . I agree that the internal benchmark scores faster, but you have to take your disk access time into account since you won't be running winrar in benchmark mo...

HOWTO: Overclock C2Q & C2D - A Guide v1.7

Edited on 08-Jun-2008 : Guide is now version 1.7 – added a 2nd example minimizing the vcores on my system. Before you continue, I wrote this guide with the newbie in mind, so please don't reply criticizing it for being too simplistic -- it's this way by design. Also know that the steps for overcl...

9x333, 8x375, or 7x428 on a Q6600 - Which is faster?

What is a better overclock? Good question. Most people believe that a higher FSB and lower multiplier are better since this maximizes the bandwidth on the FSB. Or is a low bus rate and higher multiplier better? Or is there no difference? I looked at three different settings on my Q6600: 9x333 = 3.0...

q6600 g0 owners - what is your min. stable vcore @ 9x333?

Topic says it all. I'm only interested in your vcore @ 9x333 if you own a g0 Q6600 and you minimized the vcore and if it's stable to 2x orthos or prime95 v25.3 for over say 4 hours. It would also be cool to see your VID as reported in coretemp. So I guess I'd like to see two things: 1) Your minimize...

I don't quite know what to make of this whole lower VID = higher o/c potential thing. My chip for example, is a B3 stepping Q6600 w/ a reported VID of 1.2875V (coretemp), yet I can run 9x266 (stock) which is stable to 2x orthos for over 8 hours (I stopped it after 8 hours) @ 1.1375V in the BIOS whic...
