This is most likely the real reason your 80mm fan is louder.

Speakers can pick up all kinds of noise. It comes from poorly shielded components, like a jack or wire. I don't really know what you could do about it, other than ignore it. I hear it when the speakers aren't playing anything, and I turn on a lamp or ceiling fan, or plug something in. This can creat...

But is Zalman's 18 dB as honest as Nexus 19 dB? Has anyone had problems going over the weight limit anyway? Nobody's sound level measurements are honest. If the Nexus has a 70mm fan turning at 2400 rpm, it will be quite loud. As you have said, a bigger fan running slower can generate the same airfl...

A 650W psu could have a quiet fan, but most do not. We can speculate what the biggest problems are, but ultimately the OP will have to decide what the biggest sources of noise are. Also, the Raptor may be the most difficult component to quiet. Assuming he doesn't want to get rid of it, enclosures/su...

The 28A number is much higher than actual usage. 28A at 12V is 336W, as you say, this is closer to system power consumption in the real world. So you should not have any problems with an S12-430. Or a 380, for that matter.

Digital Camera Questions

I used to be into 35mm photography, with a Canon SLR and slide film as my weapons of choice. I can't afford a good digital SLR ...

A positive pressure case only pulls air in through the fans, where dust filters can easily be installed. Filtering negative pressure cases is harder, because every opening ...

In that case, I don't know if I would bother with it. There will probably be a difference, but nothing spectacular. The extra ram will probably have more of an effect. But if money is tight, I don't think a new processor will make enough difference to be worthwhile.
