:D Cheers for the reply. Seems like a much better alternative, as there are cheap MicroATX boards available that undervolt well.

Out of interest, couldn't a standard Sempron 64 be underclocked to 1Ghz and then undervolted to produce a close enough value?

It'd be a nice product if it weren't for the fact it looks so "untidy" at the front.

I have a Gigabyte GA-M61P-S3 board that has this 6150/se chipset and it supported the brisbane with the shipped bios. it also undervolts (haven't tried underclocking). Mine is full size but I think there are new uATX Gigabyte boards with this new chipset. No DVI, however. I'm in need of a replaceme...

Here are a couple of budget options that are low cost and would work well with low power amd chips provided you don't overclock. first is alpine 64. second is Scythe Samurai Z Rev B I have both and the 92mm fans will spin at about half speed unless you are big over clocker. I'm looking for a cheap ...

My motherboard (I think it's that) has recently died, so I'm going to be getting a new motherboard - a Gigabyte Gigabyte GA MA69VM-S2, AMD 690V most likely. I am now looking at this cooler. Reason being the stock AMD heatsink was a pain to put on last time, and I want something really easy to instal...

The outside looks nicer, the inside looks virtually unchanged?

Might be a beefier power supply, but I don't trust Antec PSU's at the moment - they seem to be going through a bad spell. They could do with making one without the PSU.

Yeah, I would definately add more RAM if you have only 512mb - 1GB should make things feel better by itself, dual channel or not.

My current PC has been crashing alot, and now won't even boot (using the Antec 380watt PSU in the NSK4400 case). I'm hoping it's not the motherboard, and so have gone for one of these Corsair 520watt PSU's - hopefully I'm replacing the right part, but either way, looks like I've picked a decent PSU!...

Yes, the NSK4000 is the same case as NSK4400 but without the PSU. I've got the NSK4400 myself and I'm very pleased with it in general. It might not have the space of the top end cases, and the hard drive placement could be a problem with a really long graphics card if all three bays are filled (I'm ...

Thanks for the response guys. Sadly prices in UK are a little different than in the US - but dual core AM2 chips do seem to be coming down. I can get a 3600 dual Windsor core now for equivalent of $90 (with HSF) which is almost afforable. But it seems overkill just to run Open Office and Firefox. :...

Yes, it seems likely a faulty sensor if everything is running alright - one would think if it really were that hot it would have had stability issues by now.

Hmm, maybe it is real - maybe it needs some time curing if it's Arctic Silver - did you use that, or generic thermal paste? You could try re-applying it... maybe it isn't seated quite right. If things seem to be stable though it might be ok.

I don't remember CPU ever being more important than GPU for games and I'm going back to the 1980s on this one. If you read reviews on sites like Anandtech, it becomes clear pretty quickly that GPU is far more important than CPU for producing high FPS in games. Having a dual core CPU doesn't even he...
