Just a note on noise for those looking at Corsair H50...

The fan itself isn't bad, nice low temps on the cpu, but the pump is NOISY. Constant rapid rattle/buzzing noise. I got one at best buy last week, exchanged it this morning for a 2nd one, same thing. It is easily the most audible thing in the system. I really had high hopes for it too, since I was se...

A month or two back I set up a support ticket about the silicone grommets pushing through on a brand new p180 mini - got a reply back, sent in pics to an email address. Nothing ever again. Bump for a question here - it is mentioned about how the top fan is the culprit in sound, how about using an 800rpm scythe slipstream?

The lowest on a tricool is 1100 I think, so would this remove it from being noticed but still provide cooling by pulling the heat out?

Riffer, new2spcr: Thx for the compliments Hellspawn: I see in your sig that my build is like a mini version of yours. The drive cage issue was almost nightmare-ish. If you look at the depth of mini P180 to P150. There's probably half an inch shorter for mini. If they had that a bit deeper, then tha...

On my recent build which was similar I had to lose the drive cage as well. It's a shame these cases can't be tweaked somehow to allow the longer cards which are almost de-facto now it seems. At least among the enthusiasts.

Anyone here ever use the 2000rpm Scythe Slipstream?

I was looking at the Scythe Slipstream 2000rpm and then using a fanmate to turn it down as far as possible - does anyone perchance know what kind of rpm I would get in that case? I was thinking it should be about 1200 perhaps, and I'd keep it there but I wouldn't mind having some extra headroom so-t...

Re: Moving system into mini p180 - fan advice needed.

PWMs only make sense if you want them to speed up sometimes. But if you can get away with SlipStream 800's or undervolted 1200s temperature wise, there is no reason to go PWM. It is also quite hard to find good PWM fans, the only SPCR-reviewed ones that I am aware of are the S-Flex, which are infer...

Load temps topped at 65 using OCCT 3.01 with medium size, 1hr duration. I'd be happy with that and probably go with the Scythe, as it should be just a touch quieter than the Arctic-Cooling. It doesn't matter what your idle temps are, the question is are you happy with your load temps? If yes, then go with Scythe or Arctic-Cooling. If not, go with the Nexus PWM, since it goes up to 2000RPM, vs. 1500 for the other two. Higher top speed means it's less likely to be silent at lower speeds...

Best 120mm PWM fan for Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme 1366?

Just got my new-to-me Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme 1366 (TRUE) for my i7 920 today. I was a bit dismayed to see it has the standard 3-pin fan wire and a 'Thermalright' fan. I was using a Xigmatek w/ one of their PWM 120mm fans and it was very nice and quiet, running about 1100-1400 on the Asus Qfa...

SPCR has tested both. They say not to rely on the CFM numbers as it is terribly hard to accurately measure airflow at all and then on top of that the pressure in your case may be different, in other words tons of variables. Given that we can at least compare the numbers given: TriCool 120mm Low swi...
