Benefit from free trade, buy from somewhere in the EU! Some of those places have them in stock, and some of those have English versions of their websites, if you're monolingual like me.

Unfortunately SpeedFan doesn't have the ability to read temperatures from ATI cards. Alfredo has said that he wants to add that feature, but there's no telling how long it will take.

I'm not familiar with MySpace specifically, but in cases like this it is often possible to overwrite the original picture with a different one with the same name (replacing it with Goatse is good if you want to punish the people viewing the image).

The easiest way around that would be to buy a multimeter that can measure duty cycle, which will show you the fan speed directly as 0-100%.

If rich people somehow control all the votes, why do they have to pay all the taxes? Here in USA, we don't have that problem. Mr Evil: Can you link me to some material? It's hard to find graphs that go all the way down to 0. The best I can find is Googling for images of " atx efficiency graph ", which gives as the first result a graph showing humps and bumps in efficiency vs. load down to 20% . Also a search for " switch ...

Such a PSU will probably be efficient at lower loads, but you can't tell for sure. If you look at graphs for efficiency of switch-mode power supplies over the entire range from 0 to full load, there are often all sorts of bumps and sharp dips at low loads. I just think it's silly that the minimum lo...

The "IDE, RAID, AHCI" options are normal, it's the manual that's wrong. Choosing "IDE" makes SATA drives behave like old IDE drives for backwards compatibility with operating systems that don't support the newer SATA features, e.g. Windows XP, which doesn't have AHCI drivers as standard will BSOD if...

I think the strongest reason against compulsory voting is that those who don't vote because they are too lazy are also going to be too lazy to acquire the information required to vote rationally. They will at best vote randomly, and at worst vote in some arbitrary but non-random way, like voting for...

Glancing at the PDF that trident linked to, I realized that you need to use a high-side switch instead of the low-side switch that I put in that diagram above, otherwise the tachometer won't work. An RC filter would not be efficient, so there is no advantage to doing it that way. A buck converter doesn't have to be complicated. It could look something like this: http://mrevil.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/temp/buck.png You just need to choose values of L and C that give acceptable ripple with both the...

Front panel connectors like that come in two types that I have seen: 1) PCB mounted. The ports are soldered to a board mounted behind the panel, then the cable is soldered to that board too, or there may be a pin header on there so the cable can be detached. In this case, you would need a suitable F...

I've been using a CF card (with a CF-to-IDE adapter) as the OS drive in my fileserver for some time now. It certainly saves power and noise, but it's also almost never used except when booting in my case, so I don't notice the speed of it (or lack thereof).
