Sounds like it's overheating - is it in a place where thee's a decent amount of air circulation, or is it wedged in a stand? Also, did it always do this, or is it a recent problem? Might be that the fan has died then. It think it's mounted on a stand that doesn't come off. This has started only rec...

TV turns off on it's own

Hello, Just had a random question maybe the "electrically-savvy" people can help me with.... My old (~2001) Rear projection TV Turns off on it's own, usually after a few hours of use. You can turn it back on, but then it turns off 30 seconds later, then 15 secs later, etc. It works again after you u...

Dell 2408WFP Whines badly between 16 and 66 brightness. Under 16 is almost inaudible if the monitor is warm (it takes 10 minutes to warmup) , then I can hear it only at night and very slightly. If it is cold it whines (although not so much as between 16 and 66).. Over 66 I can not hear it at 1m eve...

I can use ATItool to lower the clock speed of my Nvidia Go 7900GS, but only recently has dell unlocked this capability in the drivers. best option for moderate performance, very low power?

I'm basically looking to build a tiny noiseless system - flash memory for the hard disk, passive cooling. I was looking at my options... I'm wondering what would be best nowadays: - Socket 479 Desktop board with Core Duo ULV or LV (9-17W) (CPUs are impossible to find though) - Turion Based desktop s...

Also, I got some 2.1v DDR2 lying around from OC-Z... do you think these boards will support custom ram voltages?

Doesn't seem possible... the slowest I've seen a Pentium M go is 600Mhz. Maybe it's using some sort of trottleing...

I would check with a different program (CPU-Z) to make sure it's really running at 300Mhz.

You could also RMclock as an alternative to NHC

Key Recommendation - Dust out your fans!

Seems straightforward - but on notebook systems which most people never take apart you don't really notice the dust buildup. The fans typically are very close to the outside environment, therefore dust can buildup quickly in the heatsink fins - this affects both passive and active notebook cooling b...

When the high load is removed, and the system goes back to using ~200W, does the fan eventually slow down again? Yes, the fan controller is smoothly responsive -- ie, it doesn't change speed too fast, but fast enough. There is the right amount of hysteresis. (Not to be confused with hysteria. ;) ) ...

Pentium 3 Mobile - Speedstep software?

I'm trying to figure out this P3 mobile laptop... it appears as though CPU speed is difficult to control outside the toshiba utilities application. RMclock and SpeedSwitchXP don't seem to have any effect.

Is there software geared at getting powering saving working properly on P3 mobile cpus?

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8200/ you'll find a service manual in there... everything you need to know. Like it's been said, there's rarely a good reason to do a CPU+mobo upgrade on a PC, because that costs more than half of the PC's value. Maybe if you can find some Cheap RDRAM...
