What the hell are you guys talking about, haven't you seen the video?
Obviously some models are super-quiet by default, somebody just has to list them...

Re: Super silent graphic cards!
Btw, this has nothing to do with the topic, why are SSDs so much more expensive than HDDs when they have less material, no moving parts etc. aren't they much easier to manufacture? Is there some specific thing that makes them so expensive?

Re: Super silent graphic cards!
It is better to know which GPU models and brands are silent by default instead of having additional expenditures and installations. Just post a one page with 20 cards from both AMD and Nvidia with a five star rating system or you could do a video, you can see how a video is extremely effective in re...

I can't believe I misspelled quiet..
So, you have to be careful to never ever buy something that isn't "custom" and you would know this how?

Super silent graphic cards!
Click on 06:40. How can HD 7950 and HD 7870 be so quiet compared to all Nvidia cards?! What a huge disappointment, I was going to buy Nvidia but this changes everything, do you think there is some Nvidia model out there that is comparable? You see, this is how you do a review(especially of cases), ...

Re: Ginormous CPU coolers?
Hopefully when Asus FanXpert 2 comes to my country I will be able to just set the desired idle and load temp and everything else is done automatic. I don't care much for constant fiddling.

Re: Ginormous CPU coolers?
Hi, the point of two fans is that, for example you can get the same cooling with two fans at 700rpm as one at 1000rpm. Two at 700rpm will be quieter due to the way sound level works, and also lower in pitch, were human hearing sensitivity is lower too. But this would only work with the latest Asus ...

Basically, that front fan in most cases would just be for HDD/SSD then.

Ginormous CPU coolers?
I don't know if you noticed this but many CPU coolers that are supposed to be the best and are recommended are freaking huge, like scythe mugen series, not only that but have even 2 fans. Isn't that really disruptive to the airflow in the case and increases noise subtantially, they actually have the...

Re: Revolutionary Asus dynamic fan control?
Well,at 10:50 he talks about setting options for each individual fan behavior regardless of the general profile, so I don't really see a problem.
For example you could have a side fan, which directly blows at GPU, to have a set speed.

Re: Revolutionary Asus dynamic fan control?
What i am sure it will miss and makes it unusable for some will be missing graphics card or hard drive temperatures. It's nice to have such system on board, but if your hard drive or graphics card will be baked because board thinks it's fine to run fans on low speed, then it will be a problem. Is t...

It seems that this makes a lot of stuff we talked about pretty irrelevant, could this be the single most important asset for silence?

Meh, I stopped bothering with forum searches since almost all searches on gaming forums never work, not even the slightest.
Surely you must have noticed this yourselves.
Anyway, seeing that 7 point list was worth making this topic.

Re: Horrible GPU fan noise
It could be dried bearings in the fan; search for description on how to clean and grease fan bearings. Wow, if that is the case it would be extremely crappy quality. I have 2 case papst 120mm fans running constantly for over 4 years through various configurations without any deviation from when the...

Re: Positive and negative air pressure
OK, so it's a nob stupidly placed on the back instead on the front...just say so. as for this: 1. The amount of venting in your case can have a huge impact on cooling, particularly around the CPU area. If you have fan mounts here that are blocked up, unblock them. 2. Generally, all other things bein...

Re: Positive and negative air pressure
The fan controller is not integrated in the case itself but instead a fan controller placed in one of the PCI slots. It is therefore possible to use the controller in any other computer systems. I don't understand what this means. How do you control the fans , is there a button on the back, where t...

Are fan mountings for GPUs uniformly designed?
This one has 3 holes in a triangle, it also has a little wire with 3 pins encased in white plastic that goes into the card.

You mean something like this?
It was very easy to separate the fan but I have no idea about that ribbed white stuff beneath, the screws are inverse at the bottom of the card and there are no visible screws at the top..

Horrible GPU fan noise
Something horrible happened today, all of a sudden my current PC started to produce horrible noise. I precisely identified the noise by elimination and then applying slight pressure to the middle of the GPU fan, the noise immediately stopped. The GPU is Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB. I separated t...

Re: Just pick the case!
I just learned something today and perhaps you will too since no one mentioned it before. There actually exists positive and negative air pressure in PC cases. Positive pressure is created when there are more intake fans than exhaust fans so what this positive pressure does is it pushes the air outs...

On another note, a trusted colleague in the industry just told me that the stock nVidia cooler on the GTX680 is the quietest he's ever come across on a high performance video card, quieter than all the partner cooling solutions. Interesting, but probably there is no such thing in my country. Last I...

He says it's amazingly super silent.
But it's the same dilemma as with Carbide 500R versus R3.

So, no one on this forum has ever had any kind of closed ear headphones and has never thought about anything like this? I'm getting a really weird vibe from this forum ever since I joined.
