Check out this thread Thanks, that answers half my question :). At least I don't have to worry about trying finding good 4-pin PWM fans. The JMCs sound like great fans, are they any others I should be aware of? As for the other half of my post; is it always the case the 4-pin PWM headers offer no c...

AM2 / 4-in PWM fan question

I've been seeing a lot of AM2 boards with 4-pin fan headers for the CPU, is this now a standard going forward for all AM2 boards? If I remember correctly from 775LGA Intel boards 3 pin fans can not be controlled via 4 headers, is this always the case or dose it vary from board to board? Also where a...

I would however like to see the system and frog together, a glamour shot of some sort would be preferred.

Interesting... And just how low can you take it? (CNPS-7000B) 50% ? 40% ? I see no reason you couldn't take it as low as processor heat demanded. Well, you could take it lower, of course; there's no real reason you couldn't take it to 0 percent and let the proc burn. But I sense your question may b...

Whether it will or not depends on if the motherboard suppors speedfan. The HS itself doesn't really matter. Check speedfan's list of mobo's that support speed adjusting to see if your's is there. (or just download it and try it out) Well, like I said, I use speedfan to control the case fans. I alre...

Yes.

I've built several machines with the CNPS-7000 and used BIOS and/or SpeedFan for fan control is all of them, no Fan Mate needed.

Thanks Gordoco, the M2N-SLI Deluxe will be the first AM2 board to go into the list.

I'm also considering making a revision to the original post, so if anyone thinks that something should be added and/or edited feel free to comment.

Gordoco (or anyone else for that mater) would you mind taking a look at my "Recommended Motherboards" sticky thread and providing some information on the M2N-SLI Deluxe? Relevant information would be BIOS fan control; how many fan headers are controllable, how much control is offered, (start speeds...

Even though I don't like the look of the V1000 I do you like this V series. The two main things that trouble though is the lack of space for the CPU HS/F and the fact that Lian Li seems to have chosen a non-standard method for mounting their fans. If you read the SystemCooling review they seem to ha...

Boards are now also broken down by socket and chipset. Edited the entry for the Asus A8R32-MVP Q-Fan properties since I've later learned that the chassis fan as well as the CPU fan is controlled by Q-Fan. The control is also far more then "on or off" with "fan start temp" as well as "fan max speed t...

Simply unplugging the fan is not ok. The stock heatsink is simply far too small to deal with the heat without the help of a fan. The Zalmans in Neil’s post are probably the best way to go. The NB32 includes thermal adhesive so if you are able to get the stock unit off without taking the motherboard ...

The VF700 makes a bit of noise at 5V. Not much, but a bit. At 3V through a fanmate, it's below the noise floor of my room, I can't hear it at all. My idle temperature on an overclocked 7800GT is 54C. Under load, 75-odd, depending on the game. If you can duplicate this, I wouldn't even bother with d...

Running Zalman VF-700/900 off GPU fan header

I think I've seen a few cards ship with the VF-700 stock but has anyone attempted to modify their VF-700 to run off the graphic card's fan header? All modern graphics cards feature dynamic control of the GPU fan to keep things "less loud" at idle with the stock HS/F. With a high performance heatsink...

Yes, leaked AMD slides put 65nm desktop and laptop CPUs in Q107, which is why this event next week is so interesting. Conroe has a huge advantage over the current Athlon64. A die shrink will help but if AMD wants to have the performance crown it's going to take a new architecture that we haven't seen yet.

Looks very nice; should be able to handle the more power hungry chipsets coming out in the coming months and years, which will be a bigger problem then most realize. But it doesn’t seem like it will be much of a help for those looking for a solution to those with unfortunate nForce4 locations.
