Just an update. Bought the basic Core Duo Mini last month and replaced the 512MB of RAM with two 1GB sticks for $89 thru zipzoomfly. Overkill on the memory - but it was just so darn cheap. :D Bought a Samsung 205BW 20" to go with it - was on sale for $200 and found out that you need to add a 3rd par...

For gaming: 1. Avoid Vista. Buy a copy of Win XP with a "free" upgrade to Vista sometime in the distant future. 2. Why not get an e6420 and overclock it? Save $40 on the e6600. Heck, I'm happy with my 50% overclocked e4300 - save $110. 3. I've got an XFX8800 GTS 320MB. Works great for 1600 x 1050 re...

just found this articleimplying 512MB is ok. Although, if I ever want to play WoW (stuttery as it may be with the gma950 gpu) when I visit, 1GB might be appropriate.

Core 2 Mac Mini and OS X - how much RAM does it need?
I'm going to be replacing my mom's dead iMac with a Mini and was wondering how much RAM the thing really needs to keep it from disk thrashing...I'm guessing the 512MB shared memory it comes with is enough for single tasks, but maybe a little low for multi-tasking/high graphic use? Looking for feedba...

How to stop Adobe Reader 8 from phoning home?
In previous versions of Reader, there has been a way to turn off automatic updates...I can't seem to find that in Reader 8. Anyone solve this issue?
My current workaround is to deny Reader access to the internet....but that's an inelegant solution.

That's a pricey UPS. My XS900 was $120 on sale. Do you need that much VA capacity? Probably not...my e4300 @ 2.5Ghz, 2GB RAM, 8800GTS, 37GB Raptor, 320GB Caviar, DVD writer, 22" LCD, router, cable modem, and old Palm V draw 140W web surfing and 190W while gaming. So, I have 34min of battery power wh...

as we head further off topic... Ethanol is an odd beast in the US. I'm suprised it isn't pork flavored and sold on a stick. There are some really cool and innovative approaches to produce it economically on a closed scale in farming communities. But, all of the current volume production methods are ...

If your talking about people living in 1 20k town and working in another 20k town 50km+ away then thats there stupidity. They should either move closer to work or find work closer to where they live. That's a tad simplistic. - Sometimes you love where you live and there just aren't good jobs nearby...
