- Topic: Noctua NF-R8 (80mm) good replacement for CPU?

Based on infromation from Noctua I've counted NF-R80's CFM to be closer to 30 CFM. I probably made some sort of miscalculation as I first counted and I got around 31 CFM when changing into CFM's. But NF-s12 1200 RPM was rated something like 48 CFM's and SPCR's test it was tested to be more like 62 C...

I am bit worried but only OEM coolers are that big, which means when they are placed in pre-build cases by manufacturers there will be no issues that much. And retail version is shorter. Although retail version can cause problems when aligning properly in case, so that HDD places won't come in the w...

Both take out 1 slot beneath AGP / PCI-E (both are there fore two slot coolers ) So they are even in that, although I have experience only Ati Silencers, the heights of SIlencers do not vary that much. Silencer seems bigger in pictures but I never had issue with silencers in my standard ATX cases. T...

It's good to hear the NV Silencer behaves well with this graphics card, as it's one of the two cooling options I'm looking at. However, would anyone be able to compare the NV Silencer 6 with my other option, the Zalman VF900? I have another concern beyond the assumed noice and cooling, namely clear...

cool! that's what i like with the Noctua, more airflow, spin more slowly, and quieter than the Nexus ones. the Nexus fans doesn't have enough airflow for my need (i need around 52CFM for exhaust 120mm fan) so i'll probably put the Noctua exhaust on 9v, and i decided to buy a 80mm (25mm thick) one t...

Tagan has good PSU's, bit expensive. I've heard a lot good about them. If you live in Europe, Be Quiet has some affordable PSU's, quiet with enough ( sometimes too long ) cables. Be Quiet! Straight power-series is quiet ( Quiet not silent ), affordable with 3 years warranty. Here, Be Quiet! Straight...

VF-900cu @ 5V is most noisy part? Impressive... With the HR-03 it will be a dream. I like the inner tube suspension. Thanks even its Ugly as what, its effective and was free ^^ Very nice, especially the suspension. I suggest a fan replacement for your VF900-CU. I too found the stock fan at 5V to be...

Noone here will ever use a fan that hits 8000rpm, most people here rarely use anything close to 1000rpm  I personaly prefer the 1200rpm version becourse both can be made inaudiable but if you need a bit more cooling then the 800rpm version might not be enought. Always nice to be safe :) Reall...

Re: 2x Noctua 120mm, 7v and 9v adapters?
ok, i checked out the reviews of the Noctua 120mm fans, and i'm thinking of getting 2x NF-S12-1200 (fast version), as well as 7v and 9v adapters. and since they already come with soft-mounts and super-quiet-adapters, i can see which speed fit me the best. the Noctua NF-S12-1200 (fast version) seem ...

Do you think an 800rpm 120mm exhaust fan will move the heat sufficiently? I've found one which is 16dBA - the quietest I can find, here: http://www.ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?ItemID=349586 800rpm is quite a bit slower than others, but being 120mm it should shift enough air. Do you agree...

Even nVidia seems better now on paper, we have to wait and see R600 real test results. Without tests everything is speculation at the best... And let's remember how nVidia screwed up with their Vista drivers and its still causing them troubles. Like Dell is now selling their gaming rigs with XP inst...

I agree with the silence, I can hear one of my LCDs hum. Under no load (in the BIOS and reported by lm_sensors) the CPU sits at about 40 deg (c). I stressed a few of th cores (3 at 100%) and the temperature rose to 60 deg. The Ninja heatsink felt quite hot to touch. As soon as I opened the case the...

As of yet Thermalright HR-03 Plus is not on the market what I've seen. Considering the fact that HR-03 had 4 heatpipe and Plus has 6 heatpipes, I am sure the Thermalright HR-03 Plus is more than enough to have you 8800 run much more cool and quiet than with stock, once you get it. But it will be exp...

I say go for noctua. You get really silent fan with Noctua, its standard size, not integrated, you get 6 years warranty from Noctua and their customers service is top notch. SI-97 is good heatsing. Bit costly though. If you don't overclock or has high TDP Barton ( XP3200+ FSB 400 or XP3000+ FSB 333 ) then GlacialTech's SilentBreeze III might be handy for you. Its also real budget solution, even its quiet and rather good one on low TDP processors. Its bit hard to find th...

I think its not really worth of the money. Infinity is still heavy HSF. I mean its 960 grams. If average 120mm fan is, let's assume around: 130g, that x 4 = 520 grams. Combine HSF weight to fan weights: 1480 grams! which is attachted with VTMS. But that sounds seriously risky to me. Definately not L...

My relatively silent computer
Well, this computer is my main computer, usually 24/7 on and I sleep less than 2 meters distance. So silence is pretty essential. Currently, its somewhat audiable during night if back Noctua NF-S12 800 rpm is @ 12v. In 9,5v computer becomes nearly inaudiable, except the VF-900 CU, which can be heard...
