Urgh. Hmm. I'll have to see if I go Corsair HX620, S12-650 Energy+, or see if an S12II-600 is going to exist for my next build.

*shrugs*

(yes, it is glorious overkill... but I've already got an S12-600 rev3 (?) in there now)

Set it to 1.375v, during idle it should automatically lower the voltage.

Vdroop is fixable through other methods, but it's a lot more work. :p

300h of lapping, even with 2000 grit, would leave him with a pile of very fine sand for his CPU. :p

I have one P180 build with a SFF12D in it, no fitment issues with the frame into the middle of the chassis-- had to slide it in and lock it in... it didn't feel quite secure out of the case when the fan + frame were assembled, but installed, they were very secure. The best thermal pads actually work just as well as the most fancy thermal greases out there.

if you want top of the line, the Ultra-120 Extreme is one of the choices. If you're not all that sensitive to noise, a Nexus 120mm on it at 12v gives excellent performance. For even lower noise, tho, a Scythe Ninja has a lower-resistance design and should work better when low noise is a higher prior...

Yes, you do. They mentioned thermal stress in their thing, which a sealed 1m box would do quite nicely.

Not realistic at all, but their emphasis on precision is amusing. :)

Hmm, potential fanless (well, case-airflow-only) sibling to the Ultra-120 Extreme... smaller size means it's not as ideally positioned/shaped to take advantage of the case fans in a P180/P182 as is the Ninja, but damned nice nonetheless. Shouldn't cause any problems at all. In fact that's probably better for cooling as it forces any excess air from the fan closely over the top of the heatsink rather than letting it escape farther away. :)

Not at all, the rig he describes should only have the PSU loaded to 65-70% or so, tops. It has 384W available across the +12v rails (32A), and the 8800GTX is accounting for 10A or so, the CPU is maybe 7A... plenty of capacity to go around.

14A on the +12v is probably enough, but that's awfully skimpy. Raidmax is right up there with Deer, L&C, Foxconn, and others as "horrid junk that doesn't even work well as doorstops", too.

Only catch is with the 8x multiplier on the E6420, if you want beyond 3.2ghz you'll be OC'ing your ram as well. As I personally tend to go for...
