Hmm, that's interesting
Are both your dual cores running the same processor? My E6750 (with an O/C to 3.2) ran the last WU from 2605 at 11:16 per checkpoint, and in the 2609 WU it is running now, the checkpoints are taking 11:21. So I expect to finish this WU in 18 hours 55, compared with 18 hours 48 for the 2605 WU. It se...

Where do you get the points per WU from?
Ari How did you find out the WU is only worth 1523? When I looked at the project information for 2609 from the link in my personal summary, I only saw that it was a new project, and that more news would be coming up. I've got one now, I hope it is better than 2608, where I had a core segfault at 62%...

Here's a thought experiment ...
The gospels tell us Christ came across a woman caught in adultery, and the crowd who were preparing to stone her. He prevented the stoning, by confronting the crowd with their own imperfections; and all he said to the woman was: "Go, and sin no more". What would have happened if he had met a gay (as...

With a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 rev 1.0 motherboard, Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme heatsink and Antec Solo case there's about 2mm clearance between the support bar and heatsink I have the rev 2.0 of the same board. I would guess, having looked at the clearance from the side, that it was closer to 5mm. ...

Thanks, I will give it a go
Thanks VanWAGuy I guess it was lazy of me to think I could find a single control that would transform my GTI into a hotrod  . Next time I have to reboot, I will give it a try. One major unknown is that I am running KDE the whole day as my window manager, and I don know how many cycles that soak...

So ... are you ocÃng?
I am curious, because the 1760 pt WUs take quite a lot longer (around 28 hours) on my machine, which is running a C2D E6750 at stock. I tried using my Gigabyte motherboard's CIA to boost the clock speed under load conditions; it only made the time-display run fast! When a WU is running, the system a...

So it fits in between the diskette tray and the upper disk .
bay? And I forgot to mention the PSU; it's the same as yours. Your cabling is a bit tidier than I have got mine, yet. But as I have to take it to bits on Saturday to put a washer under the HS retention bracket - and maybe wipe a little more of the thermal glop off the HS bottom - I haven't bothered ...

Well, that makes me feel better ....
about my C2D 6750 at stock, where I am getting about 17,5 minutes per checkpoint. But my CPU temps, reported by lm-sensors, are about 55C above ambient  . As far as I can see, neither Linux nor BIOS is throttling, but at the weekend, before I put the sides back on, I will try to slide a thin co...

Linux SMP - Restart
Hi About to join the SPCR team when: 1) My first (anonymous) WU completes tomorrow morning, and 2) I finally finish building my new silent runner Is it safe to stop the console client half way through (would get me to 2 earlier), or will I lose all the work done so far? In the first case, is there a...

I just fitted mine ...
on a Gigabyte P35 DS4 and a C2D 6750. As far as I can see, the contact is pretty good, even without tightening the screws as far as they will go. My only surprise was the fact that (unless my glasses are very dirty  ) the new C2D CPU has no holes for the pins - just contacts. Unless I put too m...

Hmm In the European manual, they say you should get clips for the middle fan - I guess this is the one you are talking about. It is on Page 1: <quote> You will also find some wiring with marked connectors (USB, PWR etc.), installed I/O panel, a box containing the top fan spoiler, drive rails for 5.2...

The problem you are reporting seems similar to something I see intermittently on my rig: Sonata Asus A7V8X-MX-SE Athlon XP 2800+ Generic PC2700 memory, 2*512Mb sticks Maxtor Diamond 10 300GB ATI 9600 AGP card Both with the ATI card, and with a previous NVIDIA GeForce 4 card (this machine started out...

How to calculate density
Density is Weight over volume, as I recall. So if you have two objects which both weight 1kg, and one of them (your plastic sheet) has a volume of 0.045 cubic metres, and the other, (a sheet of lead) has a volume of 0.0045 cubic metres, the density of the lead is higher. 'Course, I am not suggesting...

How about the noise?
Since this is an SPCR forum, perhaps we can ask what you feel about the noise? From what you say about the temps it is clear that the fans must be spinning up some of the time.
