San Diego or Venice?
I've ordered a system recently. I went with the +3700 San Diego core. But reading through the forums I got confused, which is the fastest/most recent core from AMD Venice or San Diego? Would the +3800 Venice be a better choice for a gaming rig? What are the diffrences between the two cores? I'd appr...

Nvidia got some explaining to do
Interesting read:
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=25807
Might not be a dealbreaker for some. But if Nvidia feels the need to skimp on picture quality to gain performance, what does that say about their chips and architecture?

Seems like I got some testing to do when my system arrives. Personally I'd prefer to run the front fan really low from a noise standpoint. But keeping my harddrives cool is top priority here since I got so much valueable data on them. Really looking forward to play around with the fan settings! Than...

I just noticed the Asus card you are refering to. But its not in stock. However, I could a 7800GT and a Zalman cooler for less than the ATI card I currently have in my order. Hmm. I think I'll make the switch tomorrow if its not too late. Thanks for all the input guys and gals. Any more suggestions ...

Hehe. Relevant question. The reason is that I wanted a excellent preforming mobo with passive cooling and this one does just that for me. I selected this specific graphicscard because it has a dual slot cooling setup which exhausts air from the case, I have no plans on going of actually using SLI in...

Good point El Jefe. The three exhaust fans are: 1. PSU 2. Systemfan 3. The VPU fan which is dual-slot. (The ICE-QII on the card is supposedly the best stock cooling there is) Looks like the way to go here is a front 120 and then undervolt the systemfan and VPU fan as far as possible (5V-7V maybe?). ...

Just ordered a system - suggestions?
I placed an order for my new system. Silence is of great importance to me but since I need a powerful system to work I had to make some compromises. Since the processor I selected is currently out of stock I still have time to make changes to my order. The system I ordered: Antec SONATA II Piano Bla...

Good news! :) This kind of communication is exactly what I wanted, keeping me in the know is keeping me patient and waiting happily. I don't want nor expect any "next week" street dates just updates on the status on the product so I know what to expect from it. Otherwise it just feels like I'm wasti...

Yes, my point exactly lenny. There more competitive the business gets, the more uncertain R&D and product cycles become the greater the need for good PR strategies. Actively involving your future customers in the design and research of a product is going to get more and more importnant, hopefully. K...

I just noticed something in those pics. The lack of COM and LPT ports on the mobo! To me thats a step in the right direction. Remove all the dated ports that hardly anyone uses and use the saved space to put new and innovative features in. To see a built-in heatpipe system for the processor would be...

True. But the point I tried to make was rather about the lack of communication. Even if you dont want to set offical release dates in fear of disapointing people if those should not be met you can still keep people updated on whats going on. If Antec had kept people updated on what was going on with...

Great news! Nice work. May/June, hmm, thats not even close to febuary. But this doesn't bother me too much since thats when AMDs dual core processor are coming out. However, I think they have lost quite a few customers that didn't like the lack of information on the street date. Keepin your customer...

AMD Dual core
Techreport has done a review of AMDs dual core solution. A good read with stats on powerconsumption: http://techreport.com/reviews/2005q2/opteron-x75/index.x?pg=1 "AMD's dual-core Opteron processors are extremely well executed on all fronts, based on what we've seen. AMD's dual-core design has a tec...

fans
It is my understadning that there is both a fan in front and behind the drive cages. Just look at all the images that have come out. There are two front 120mm fans then the drive cages and after that one 120mm fans for the lower drive cage. In total the p180 seems to sport five 120mm fans standard p...

Intels Dual Core Roadmap (Slightly OT)
A very good read in my opinion.

Makes you think differently about the current wave of uncritical reviews and previews on top hardware sites.
Intel should start delivering and stop promising.

Yet another question.
I have been putting off buying a new system for quite some time now waiting for the p180. Could you give us a hint or indication of when we might be able to get our hands on this case? I'm really looking forward to it but getting more impatient.
Thanks.

.. I'm personally not so convinced that dual core is such a good investment. Maybe next year there will be enough games and app to make it worth the extra dough. From The Inq: "Companies developing software will implement multi-core aware applications, but these products are probably 12-18 months aw...

Thanks for the input! I recently ordered a Stacker for a server setup but this time that case is simply too big for me, otherwise that that would have been an intresting choice. First post. Read all the stickys. Still left with a question. I have very specific requirements for my future case. If you know of a case that meets at least some of my reqiurements please share. The standard amount of external bays seems to be four 5.25 och two 3.5. I will never use more than one o...
