Re: Can this be done in a small case?
I'd like to mount the case to the back of my TV, which is why I have chosen the M350. If there are other suggestion for a case that will allow me to VESA mount it, I'm open to other suggestions http://www.sundialmicro.com/lianli_gaming-mini-itx-tower-case-pcq09fr_1703_1945.html http://www.sundialmi...

Does it have to handle 3D gaming? Will you type of gaming do fine with the 2d hardware acceleration that will be available under Windows 8?

Why you should delay buying a Dual Core CPU
Why you should delay buying a Dual Core CPU The only Intel Dual Core CPUs are the Sandy Bridge CPUs. They suport Direct X 10 but not Direct X 11. Windows 8 makes use of hardware acceleration under Direct X 11 to substantially increase its performance, (and reduce energy usage). The performance incr...

Get the Mugen or the Macho or the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus, whichever is cheapest. Assume that you will need to replace the Hyper 212 with a Nexus or slipstream fan.

Re: Altering case fans to cater for faness PSU
The front fan is set at the bottom, the rear is above midway level with the CPU, so they are not facing each other and I think the air flows would merge, It isn't about flows, it is about pressure. Each fan is exerting pressure against the other, wherever they happen to be located, each forcing air...

several programs, including the MythTV backend process, firefox, and a few others were all consuming 100% CPU. The Big Shuriken fan had ramped up to full speed, as was quite audible. Re: Altering case fans to cater for faness PSU
My other thought is to reverse the rear fan and have this too blow inwards, You have the germ of a good idea. The problem is that most fans don't respond well to fighting each other like you propose. By the way, the force of warmer rising air is very weak and will be irrelevant in your situation. B...

It isn't mandatory, but why would you not use a down draft? Not all the tower coolers are good, but almost all the down drafts happen to be good coolers.
And they come in some very high cooling capacities. See:

180mm fan in the front and 200mm (Phobya 200mm) 1. I don't think there are any quiet fans of that size. 2. water cooling radiators are high impedance / static pressure applications. Smaller fans are inherently better at such applications. 3. If you are married to the case and big fan radiators... s...

1) I didn't even consider it before but would a similar setup on a mini-ITX board in a smaller case with fewer fans and a PicoPSU be a good option, or would it become too hot/noisy? The size of the case is not relevant, what counts is the quantity of air coming in and out - which carries the heat w...
