Asus technical support (nice guy btw) thinks I have a grounding issue. He wants me to run my computer out of the case on a piece of cardboard, but like a grounding issue, my USB ports flaking out and causing my keyboard to flake out are intermittent. My USB mouse, ipod, and jump drive never have an ...

After further forum reading, I ended up buying (4) Yate Loon 80mm fans from silencio_777. They can easily undervolt to 5 and 7V.
Also if anyone else is seeking the SG01-E new version, it's been sighted at this vendor.

80mm fans that stay silent at 5V?
I've read the FAQ, and searched the forum a bit, but I'm still uncertain on a good 80mm case fan candidate that will stay silent when undervolted to 5V. I have a microATX setup right now in an X-Qpack, with Antec Phantom 350, with no issues using a Nexus rear 120mm case fan which is 1,000 rpm peak 1...

Thinking that some folks are not having USB port issues with keyboards, I changed in the bios "Plug N Play OS" to NO which takes control away from windows and puts it to the bios. I also disabled USB 2.0, and it worked for a bit, but after one reboot, all of my USB ports stopped working. I used a PS...

I called Asus RMA and they were going to check if they had an extra A8N-VM CSM to "cross ship" to me to minimize my downtime. Very cool of them. (if they call back =) I realize most RMA is from a dead board, or possibly a dead component prior to use, so downtime is not as much of an issue, but if yo...

It's possible this is just another product in their lineup that won't kill the adjacent slot with the exhaust, and possibly they hope to market to card manufacturers to put on their stock cards as OEM. I'd be surprised if they dumped the Silencer rear exhaust line, as there are a lot of folks buying...

It's a USB keyboard (Saitek Eclipse) and a USB mouse (MX700). My old keyboard was USB and had the same intermittent issues. So I would use it with the USB to PS2 adapter. For x-mas I got the new Saitek USB only keyboard. The USB ports are not flaky with my mouse, ipod or jump drive, just keyboards w...

Quietest for me, is the PC I build where every fan is under my control on my fanbus. I then tweak each fan down to bare minimum of the load. I didn't realize how quiet my rig was running until I had to rebuilt my wife's PC. Here cpu cooler, and case fans were defeaning. I tried to re-rig it to under...

Asus RMA on A8N-VM CSM ? painless?
The USB ports on my A8N-VM CSM motherboard continue to give my keyboard grief. Random keys will stop working, and when I reseat the connector, it will change to different keys. This is my second keyboard with this issue, so I'm fairly certain it's the USB ports. I have a phone number for Asus techni...

I recently installed an Antec Phantom 350 in my Aspire X-Qpack uATX case. It gets warm to the touch, but the 120mm fan keeps it reasonable inside the case. It is a bit longer than my old PSU Zalman ZM400A-APF PSU which gave me 1/2 an inch gap to the Plextor drive. Now I have about 1/4 of an inch, an...

My current PSU Zalman ZM400A-APF is 150mm long ??? The Antec Phantom 350/500 is spec'd 150mm long on Antec's website, but I've found other online sources saying its 180mm long. Does the safety fan on the end of the 500 add 30mm to it's length? EDIT: Mike's review says the 500 is 183mm long. Maybe An...

read Mike's write up on dual 12V lines http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=23916&highlight=phantom+350+18a I guess ultimately I'm asking if anyone with a Phantom 350 is running a Geforce 7800GT and having ANY issues. I only run a single dvd burner, and hard drive. So it's a modest power...

12V needs 18A? help on new PSU
I finally ordered a new eVGA 7800 GT card, and they state a requirement for the 12V rail to have 18A on it. Most newer PSU's have (2) 12V rails, 12V1, 12V2. Would an 18A requirement mean one of them needs it? I often see it as 12V1 (15-16A), 12V2 (17-18A). If the PSU has the PCI-E 6 pin connector, c...

Erssa, How did you determine that your rear USB ports couldn't be fixed with a BIOS or driver update? I have long stretches without issue, and then keys on my USB keyboard will stop typing, or will switch keys (ie. b types m, and m types nothing). I've been tempted to load the USB driver on the Asus...

Thoughts on USB port issues. Power supply buzzing ?
My PSU has an intermittent high pitched whine. When I touch the PSU, it stops. I checked to make sure the screws were tight. I can make music with it, but touching it like a scratching table. There also doesn't seem to be a pattern to when it starts and stops. Is this the wail of a dying PSU? Of cap...

Well I just loaded bios 506, and QnC is working now. Changed Memory timing to Auto in bios, and now the AMD Power Monitor application shows the Frequency bouncing between 1,000 and 2,000 MHz, and the VCore from 1.100V to 1.400V. =D Finally figured out that my Zalman PSU is causing the high pitched w...
