I was thinking of using one of these in a HTPC case, the antec NSK2480 to be exact. Hard to find the mini ninja anymore. Do you think that these would do okay with a CROSS blowing fan without the fan on top? I was thinking of using the 2 120mm fans to blow INTO the case across the heatsink. Let me k...

Silverstone GD04? Release?
Does anyone have any idea when the silverstone gd04 is coming out? Looks like a killer HTPC case, getting antsy.

Do the cheap CF to IDE adapters suffer from stuttering issues? I know the performance would suck ass, but don't want to deal with the suttering issue. um, my impressions are that this is like buying a bicycle because you eventually have to pull over in the car to buy petrol, and you don't like stop...

I'd have to second that. I've tried almost all methods of decoupling the HDD's from the case, including using several types of sorbothane (probally the same type of material you used), and nothing comes close to really suspending the hard drives using something like stretch magic. True suspension is...

Mike: The only way for you to get rid of the noise is to suspend. I went through the same experiences as you, and found NO relief in sorbothane or silicone gaskets, etc. The only solution is suspension. You are right that it is a total RPM issue, and as the RPMs of the drives cross back and forth, i...

Most Dense Platter?
What hard drive on the market now sports the most dense platter? Its so hard to keep up with all the moving technology nowadays.
I thought it was the F1 series, but I am hearing that a lot of users are experiencing failed drives, which makes me wary.
I'm mainly interested due to performance.

I am betting that you have multiple hard drives. The only way to get rid of this type of noise is to suspend the drives. When you have multiple drives, and their RPM's "cross" each other, even if they are at 7000 RPM's, they create this type of hum. Some people here refer to it as "beating." Basical...

That looks absolutely fantastic. I will try and procure some of those. I really appreciate the help. The mesh drive cover plates from the CM Cosmos fit the P180 pretty well from what you can see below, and they look the part as well. Because the bezel depth is greater on the P180, the covers don't s...

Re: But what about the noise?
I am curious whether all that air coming out of the front wouldn't bring noise with it? I have had to move my P182 away from the wall against which it was standing, because of the rear-fan noise bouncing off the wall - and that was with the tri-cools on low. And did Mankey actually put any material...

The CM Cosmos uses clip-on removable mesh drive bay covers which may fit on the P180 series cases. Since I have both cases, I will take one of my extra drive bay covers and see if it fits on the P180 tonight, then post here with the results. I have not seen a retailer offering these as accessories ...

Need 5.25 inch bay cover - mesh
I am looking for some bay covers to put in my top 2 bays of my p180. I unfortunately do not have 3 bays open, otherwise, I'd just stick in a Karma Bay. The closest I've found is the Lian Li ones, but they only fit Lian Li cases. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/6202/cpa-221/Lian-Li_525_Mesh_Bay_Cov...

Its a little different, but here is what i did with my P180. I basically tried to isolate the system into 3 zones. The CPU is closest to the back of the system, so why not give it the freshest air instead of the leftovers after it cycles throughout the entire case. http://i1.tinypic.com/4paggid.jpg ...

Mankey, it is possible to have 3 HD's suspended in the lower HD chamber? why didn't you do that? Yes, it would be possible to have 3 suspended in there. I really have no need for 3 hard drives, as I have a (louder) server box with 3 terrabytes that I keep in a totally different room for my mass sto...

You can swing the door 270 degrees... so it will fold back against the side of the case, no biggie. I dont really see why you should have to have the door open all the time tho, my system will just be abit hotter (hence speed up fans abit) when i close the door. really? my door seems to just stop w...

Yah, leaving the front door open works, but it really defeats the purpose of having a good looking case that a premium is charged for. Its like paying for a BMW that you have to drive around with the trunk lid open. Is there a way to make the door swing all the way open and fold against the side of ...

Nice work! How are the harddrives normally mounted in the bottom cage in the P182? Horizontally using the drive's bottom screwholes, or vertically using the screwholes on the side of the drive? Vertically using the screws to the sides of the drive, utilizing the soft silicone washers as dampening. ...

Now I just have to figure out a way to cool them well ;) A Yate-Loon 92mm fan fits between the front of the hard drive cage and the air grate. I have one zip tie'd in there, with its power cable going up through a hole in the upper chamber "floor" that lets it out into the two cavities on either si...

All of my systems use 2 hard drives, and without suspension, there is a harmonic pulsing hum that is impossible to get rid of. I'm guessing that your hard drives have different RPMs and the noise you hear is their beat frequency. I experienced the same thing with my hard drives- one 5400 and one 72...
