I recently installed a 500GB Caviar Black for a friend who also has a Solo. The drive was barely audible and I had to put my ear next to the case to hear some minor clicking. He had upgraded from a 160GB Caviar Blue which was audible only if I opened the case and put my ear next to the drive. Howeve...

Which NAS to buy?
I'm looking for a NAS that has a gigabit connection, torrent support, and at least 2 bays with RAID 1 support. A decent web interface would be nice, but not an absolute necessity. I'll be streaming 1080p videos through this so I'd like for it to be decently fast as well. Oh yes, it must be quiet.

This is completely false. A 32-bit OS can not address more than 4gb (in fact it's more like 3.5). OK. Will you believe if I'll post some screens? I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x86, 2 x 2Gb RAM is installed, screens are taken after applying the patch. http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/6070/...

One phrase I notice that some people commonly misinterpret is "once and a while." The correct phrase is "once in a while." How can one do something at one instance in time and for a while? The word 'up' also seems to be too frequently used in the wrong context and it bugs the hell out of me. Example...

Thank you! Yes, I am very satisfied with the acoustic performance of my current setup and I'd like to keep it as it is. I have a good feeling that my setup would be able to accomodate the Q6700, but I wanted to make sure first. I'm not sure on the case temps, but I have 4 fans in my system: 3 Scythe...

Is it possible to silently cool a Q6700?
I'm planning to keep my computer in my sig for at least another 2 or 3 years, so I'd like to upgrade to a Q6700 sometime soon. Currently, my E6700 is cooled with a TR SI-128 SE with a Scythe S-Flex 800 RPM fan. The ambient temperatures should hover around 25C for the summer and around freezing in th...

Antec Neo HE 430 reliability?
I'm planning to build a system soon for a friend which will contain an E8400, a GTS 250, and a single hard drive. My reason for choosing the Neo HE 430 is because it's the cheapest PSU that's quiet by SPCR standards with modular cables. There seem to be a lot of negative reviews on Newegg that conce...

Itching to upgrade video card
I've had my 8800GT since November of 2007 and I'm getting symptoms of upgrade fever. 8) My question is this: What is the fastest video card that can fit in an Antec Solo and be cooled adequately with a Thermalright T-Rad2 with an 800RPM Scythe S-Flex fan? I'm looking at the 4870, but it seems like t...

I recently bought an APC Back-UPS XS 900 and the always-on fan is driving me nuts - it's not even in the same room where I work! I wish I had seen this thread before I made the purchase at Circuit City... I have since purchased the ES 750 from Newegg and it is dead silent. There is some buzzing when...

I ditched my NEC LCD2090UXi for an HP LP2065. The panels are the same (S-IPS), but the HP is much quieter. There is a slight hum when I put my ear to the back of it, but it is inaudible under normal conditions. Finally, an S-IPS panel that is as close to silent as possible. The NEC was much better w...

I gave up trying to cool my 8800GT passively with a TR HR-03GT some time ago. The setup would be fine in the winter months, but in the summer, I saw the temperatures on the card rise to unhealthy levels and I got artifacts and lockups in games after a few hours. The only real way to get direct airfl...

Unfortunately, what was said about the 2070NX can not be said about the 2090UXi. My hearing is very sharp and I can hear a whine coming out of this monitor regardless of brightness levels. The whine gets louder if there is a white background such as a webpage. I have somewhat remedied this by taping...

Looking for a silent S-IPS or S-PVA LCD monitor
I absolutely love the NEC LCD2090UXi's image quality and features, but I've just about had it with the backlight inverter whine. The whine is very noticeable when my ear is placed right next to one of the vents, but it is still audible from about 2 feet away, although somewhat faint, since my hearin...

NEC LCD2090UXi This monitor whines almost inaudibly from about 1m away, but when the background becomes white, the whine becomes more noticeable although not too irritating. Just about any other source of noise will drown out the whine. Dell 2001FP The whine is irritatingly noticeable when the brig...

I work with Lenovo Thinkpads everyday and I can tell you they are one of the most quiet, if not the most quiet laptops I've ever heard and used. In fact, I don't think I've heard a Thinkpad fan rev up to an audible level. Any Thinkpad you buy will be quiet because they all use a standardized fan/hea...

CA_Steve, SPCR's 92mm fan list hasn't been updated in over a year which is why I'm asking about the Noctua and Scythe. I do realize that any SPCR approved fan would be more than adequate. Nick Geraedts, I've previously used a 7950GT in that second PCIe slot without issues and, like widowmaker said, ...
