As long as you get a good application of Artic Silver I think you should be fine. The Antec Tri-Cool, while not as quiet as a Nexus, isn't terrible by any means. I used mine on my XP-120 b/c I have a 27% overclock (from 2.2 to 2.8 GHz) and I wanted the extra CFM, but undervolted to 5V it's not loud ...

Above 85% across a 350W range  We can only hope that other PSU manufacturer's follow suit.

Still disappointed that they changed the fans from the YL models, though.

Nice review, Mike.

*Whew!* The one I bought two weeks ago is a Yate Loon model; quiet as a mouse :) . It's odd that they changed the efficiency curves, even unintentionally; anyone that will actually be drawing 300+W with these would opt for the 500W or 600W model. Hmmm....

Mine came in the original Antec box, but it shipped all the way from CA and was perfectly fine when it got here, no damage at all. Fedex just treats packages much better than those *other* carriers.

The silencers work a little better with nVidia's cards (supposedly the newly-released silencer 6 is the best of them all). But what I'm doing is picking up the Zalman 700-Cu and making my own duct out the back couple of PCI slots (I have no other PCI cards installed). A little more DIY work but much...

I ordered mine from NewEgg. It would be more expensive, since you're in CA they'll charge you tax, but it's a bit more peace of mind on what condition the case will arrive in.

A 90-mm fan that can only blow 5 CFM at 2500 RPM? That just doesn't seem to add up.

Thanks for the post. I guess you're right, any ol' case will do. Well the fact is I need to buy a new one anyway, and I probably won't do any modding this time, so I'm just looking for a good case for a reasonable price. In the future, I would like to start modding. By the way, do the rubber gromme...

I think you'd be fine with either one, although I suppose the 430W is slightly more future-proof...I just put a rig together with the 430W and an X800XL and I have yet to hear the PSU fan at all....my undervolted Nexus at the rear exhaust is currently louder  .

Nice find. I wish they would have calculated torque, though. Seems like the length of the Tower and the sheer weight of the 7700-C would be major disadvantages...I know my mobo was bending a little just from the weight of the relatively light XP-120 when I installed it.

Check the last few reviews on the main page, they are all about the recent SATA drives that have been released. m0002a gives good advice, though, the new WD drives are quite nice. I picked a WD3200JB up the other day and mounted on foam it is totally inaudible idle...seeks are audible up to about 1M...

Well, this thing works great! I got the black version for my SLK3000-b. My one nit with it is that the upper metal casing makes some heinous knocking noises if there's any vibration at all in the casing (like optical drives)....but it is removed easily enough. It's got a nice wide range of voltages ...

Would you want to hear six instruments all playing at 20kHz? To answer your question, though, the sampling rate need only be as high as the highest frequency that is being recorded. There's a technical explanation, I just can't remember what it is right now

What did people need those huge cases for back t...
