I can read my MSI 6600GT temp with Everest.

I have an V1 with an 80 mm yateloon fan and it works great (iddle: 45ºC with the fan at 50%, load, around 65ºC). But I have an XP-90 on the CPU. I don't think it will fit with an XP-120. I tried on my mobo (an asus a8n-sli deluxe) and it didn't.

I have the xp-90 with a 90 mm papst fan, t-balanced and not spinning most of the time (on an athlon64 3500). It works great. I don't like those other coolers with non-standard fans; when the fan becomes noisy (it happens sooner or later) you have nothing to replace it with.

I have an AMD athlon64 3500 with a thermalright xp90 and a 90 mm papst fan, t-balanced. Most of the time the fan is not running ang the CPU is around 35-45ºC. Only under heavy load the fan runs.

MBM5 with a8n-sli deluxe and nvidia 6600GT?
I found the config data files and they work with this mobo, but the nforce 4 temp does not show. Anyone knows if this is possible?. I've seen it working with DFI mobos, so it should be possible. Ah!, one more thing: and the temp of a nvidia 6600gt chip?. I know it has been done also in DFI mobos, bu...

Yes. The fan seems essential to maintain the temp down when the GPU is under heavy load. They use a thin fan because it goes behind the card (up in a tower setup) and it may contact the CPU cooler, if it is a big one. I just t-balanced it, and it works great!. The temp never goes beyond 65ºC, even t...

I just installed this heatsink in my MSI nvidia 6600GT with a drop of arctic silver. I had previously the stock sink with a 80 mm nexus fan blowing directly on it. At 25ºC of room temperature: Before- idle: 47ºC load: 80ºC (with rthdribl) After- idle: 40 ºC load: 60ºC The sink is very well built, ea...

If you scroll down, you can read: " Borg HBC
Heatpipe processor cooler for Northbridge
Package contents: 4 bended heatpipes (6mm), heatpipe plates, screws
[353g]"
It appears to be the same 2 blocks and 4 pipes as the gpu cooler, but without the sinks.

They have a CPU cooler, a gpu cooler and that, advertised as northbridge cooler. If I could figure out how to connect the second block to a sink, I might buy it. There it little info in that m-cubed page.

You can see it at: http://www.mcubed-tech.com/generell/borg-hpce-c.jpg
This kit has 4 heatpipes and 2 blocks, I guess that one is for the northbidge chip and the other, maybe for a heatsink?. How wold you install it?. It seems VERY interesting!.

I wrote my dissertation in an IBM XT. The cpu (an intel 8086, or maybe a 8088) didn't need any heatsinks, and there was a power supply with a fan that was audible, but it did not bother me at that time (I was a lot younger then....). Two 5-inch floppies, one with wordperfect 4 (or was it 5.1 already...

Those fans are attached to a propietary cpu cooler with heatpipes, and you have to get the original part from the manufacturer. Damned laptops!. I have a noisy beast, an HP omnibook XE4500 that has an anoying fan that drives me mad, and seems there is no fix.

Just touch the cpu sink close to the base. If your cpu is burning hot, the sink will be too.

Temps go up (in my system) from about 35ºC to 55ºC. Not too bad; pentium 4 systems go all the time like that. If you want to go lower, get a better heatsink+fan. The temps I reported were with the stock fan and sink.

I installed a Thermalright xp-90 on an intel P4 prescott 3 GHz because the stock fan (5000 rpm) was so loud!. However, the temp jumped from 55ºC to 85ºC, even with the papst 92 mm fan at top speed (2000 rpm). Any hints?

I think it has a temp sensor that makes it spin faster as temp increases. That thing sounds like a boeing 747 when it gets to 5000 rpm. Noisy!!. I just changed one for a thermalright xp-90 with a papst 92mm 2000 rpm fan and it is soooooooooooo much more quiet!!

I did some playing with it, and found out that this new bios does not work with the 4x multiplier anymore; it needs at least 5x (1 GHz). At this freq the previous voltage (0.8volt) is unstable, and I have to get close to 1 volt to achieve stability. Which is what cool'quiet gives you, so those under...
