Re: Quiet high performance rig with GTX 660 SLI
Before this i had a Sapphire HD7870 which was also low power but i destroyed it after mounting a Arctic Acceloro universal gpu cooler that made my VRM's overheat... :( I thought the Arctic Acceloro guarantee your Sapphire HD7870 not to over heat? Does warranty covers anything? Is it the Accelero S1...

I think the case itself is too small, I would use much larger case to get more air inside the case. For e.g,. a NZXT Phantom 820

Re: What is a few silent 200 mm fan brand names?
I assume they have shorter lifetime because of the lower quality bearings they use. 200mm fans were almost always baked into bling-bling gaming cases, where hearing the stuff you paid that much for seems to be a must. And mostly you'll need some kind of eye protection to avoid being blinded by all ...

Regardless, why is the MTBF of these 200 mm fans are so much lower than 140 mm fan? We are talking about 40K hr. vs. 100K hr.

The case c/w those 200 mm fans build in. I compare the spec. and they are not as quiet as some other ones.
Speaking of LED light, I don't like vampire electronics, as I am an environmentalist, is there a way to turn them off? It's a total waste of electricity

What is a few silent 200 mm fan brand names?
I went to a store and compare Antec, Spectre, NZXT, etc. to Noctua. The dB level of Noctua is so much lower than these other brands, and its CFM is much higher than these other brands. Is the data publish by Noctua accurate? Because they look really good. I also compare the MTBF of 120 mm fan of all...

I have been convinced by some of you to go to the GTX 650 or GTX 650 Ti w/ a Accelero passive cooler. Now, I'm happy with an non-overclock version (i.e., just regular core speed is fine) http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4474#ov but I can't find the above in North America. The Kingwin LZP-1000 is another contender. I found no whine/buzz on my test sample. The Seasonics all have single rails these days. Coil whine is one of those component-dependent issues that can hit any PSU. My sample of a 1000 Platinum Seasonic made no or little whine. Mike, thanks for your input....

I need about 6 fans of various size to add to the NZXT Phantom 820
I need a backup alternative in case their add-on fan is not quiet. Rather, I need to judge if their fan is not quiet, there is another brand I can choose to add on the Phantom case

I just want the most quiet fan, (120 mm, 140 mm, 200 mm, 230 mm), assuming that would be fluid bearing technology, so I just need a table, or some sort of listing that list out all the fluid bearing fan o f the above size

for $150 or less, Antec performance 1 w/ triple layer material on the casing
For $250, go to NZXT Phantom 820, it supports up to 9 fans, and it's a very silent case as per the Hardocp review

read in between the lines, zalman themselves said you need a cooling fan. In their case, a 92 mm fan. The fan noise will be quite high as the diameter of the fan is too small They say its optional, or do you have a link with some more details ? if that block can clear the heat, then there is no nee...

Re: Noctua NH-L12 + NF-P14 - Temps down ~7C
can we infer from the above, that on the Noctua NH-D14, we should replace the 120 mm fan w/ 140 mm fan, so 2 x 140 mm fan can cool the CPU temperature further down?
for that matter, why doesn't Noctua do that in the first place?

stay away from Supermicro, their motherboard is 3 yr. parts, 1 yr. labor, whereas Asus for e.g., is 3 yr. parts & labor.
