I'm using the Nexus PWM Series D12SL-12PWM 120mm Case Fan in one of my computers (open shoulders and all). I'm very happy with it.

Well, I started up Prime95 (with the option selected for maximizing CPU heat) and HWMonitor and let it run for 15 minutes. For the last 5 minutes of that, all the temperatures had stabilized. Unfortunately (from the point of view of testing the fan), it couldn't heat up the CPU enough to rev up the ...

P.S. Windows 7 STILL FREAKING REARRANGES MY FAVORITE VIEW in explorer. zhell, Just to let you know, I bought a Nexus Value 430 for another computer I built and have no problems with it. It boots fine and goes into and out of S3 sleep mode without problem. Estimating if a Video Card Will Fit in a Case
I looked around here for something on estimating if a video card would fit in a case. Since I didn't find anything, I thought I'd post what I tried. With a tape measure, the best measurement I could make in my Antec Solo from the back IO panel slots to the front of the drive bay was somewhere betwee...

Dell does sell them in US. Here is the link http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&oc=2209WA Interesting. I followed that link and it is, indeed, live. My wife uses hers primarily for office work (that, and her games (stuff from BigFish -- nothing heavy)). Compared to my 20" NEC 20WMGX2: - Very good image (but not as good as the NEC). The Dell seems to show a bit more grain. I don't know if that's a "screen door" effect or if it's just because the ...

My wife's 2209WA makes no noise that she (or I) have noticed. But, I don't know if that's true for all of these monitors (sample variance). I haven't run across any threads with people complaining of such noise. Also, as plympton says, Dell isn't selling them any longer in the US. I don't know if yo...

Nexus D12SL-12PWM: Experiences?
I did a quick search here, but didn't come up with anything. Has anyone had any experience with the Nexus D12SL-12PWM fan (120mm, PWM, open corner (yeah!)).

On my Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3P, both the CPU_FAN header and the SYS_FAN2 header are 4-pin (the SYS_FAN1 and PWR_FAN headers are both 3-pin). Even though the manual shows identical pin configuration for the 4-pins, only the CPU_FAN is controllable in the BIOS (either by Voltage control or PWM control)....

Pioneer DVD Burners: MIA?
I'm having a devil of a time finding a Pioneer DVD burner. From what I've read here, Pioneer burners tend to be amongst the quietest. I am curious, though, why you get shutdowns every two hours from March through June next year. Are they expecting you to have bought the released OS by then? Does that mean they expect the OS released by March to be penalizing their RCs with shutdowns? I think that's just Microsoft's way to make su...

Oh, and just as a side-note: since you're going to be using an SSD, and you're re-building your system anyway, you might consider trying out the Windows 7 Release Candidate. First, it, like Vista, doesn't need an F6 install for AHCI. Secondly, it's supposed to have modifications to help with SSDS (t...

This is going to be pretty chaotic as it responds to several posts. First, if you're sure you'll never build a RAID array, then just go with the AHCI. There is one difference between the P182 and P183 that might be to the P183's advantage: it's shorter. According to Antec's site, the P183 is 20.25" tall, whereas the P182 is 21.3". It doesn't sound like much (1.05"), but the space where I put my computer is 21.0" high. So, the P182 is just a smidge...

Check your BIOS to make sure that the drive is still in the proper mode. If you had it set to RAID or AHCI, I suppose it might be possible that the setting reverted to plain old IDE when you swapped drives. Lawrence, One of the recurring comments on Newegg about this case is that the front panel wires are too short. Did you have any such problem with this case and the D945GCLF2?
