This looks an amazing case, well done for taking your idea and making it reality! It's possibly slightly too small for me (a phrase I never thought I'd use about a case) as I'd miss having front mounted USB ports (I'd end up with a USB hub next to it, which kinda defeats the point), but still very t...

Out of interest, what are good SFX PSUs? The SPCR recommended PSUs list only two (SeaSonic 300 & 200 Watt models); are there others which are too new/untested for the SPCR list?
gaidal, please post photos of your build (and how it fits in the case )

If you are right (and it goes against most hearsay comments I've heard, which say modern SSDs are more than reliable enough) what do you think of the Crucial MX100? More reliable than the 840 Evo?
I hadn't heard about the 850 yet, going to Google it now.

Looking at motherboards the choice seems to be 3 similar boards (Gigabyte boards don't get much press here on the SPCR forums): Asus H97M-Plus - New (and nice looking) fan control - Only 2 case fan points on the motherboard (need more?) - May still have fake 4-pin fan controllers - Intel LAN - Has a...

Now I'm aware of one possible candidate: I don't know whether according to you it can be called "small" or not, anyway, you might give a look to the Fractal Design Node 804 . Thanks Luka, it is a very good looking case but sadly it's not that small, being (WxHxD): 344 x 307 x 389 mm. If it was 220m...

Too bad the 3480 can't be bought without PSU Yes, it'd be good to get it on its own. Actually the very same 3480 is a bit too small (to be a perfect all arounder), it seriously needs 2-4cm more depth, 2-4cm more height, and 2-4cm more width So the Silverstone TJ08-E and Lian Li PC-V354 are more ide...

You never saw a C14, didn't you? If you had ever held it in your hand, you wouldn't absolutely think to it as "low profile". Anyway, it's huge and it's among the best air coolers available (yes, even among the quietest). Indeed, I've only seen pictures of it lying on its side rather than standing u...

Re: "Value" gaming/general use build suggestions, please
Thanks Abula, there's some really helpful info here. But i would accept that a low profile cooler will requiere much more rpms to keep the CPU as cooled as any of the tower coolers, and in many cases will generate more noise. Agreed. Does this hold for the NH-C14 too? I didn't know of the HR22, it's...

Hi and welcome to the forum, it's great to have your input. I take a bit of exception here; aesthetic design is very important to me, and was a significant consideration in the design of the M1. It might not be to your taste, and that's fine. My goals for the design were for an understated, minimali...

Re: NCASE M1: Crowdfunded Enthusiast Mini-ITX Case
We don't think much of them here at SPCR because they're noisier than air coolers, but closed-loop watercooling is totally mainstream for gamers & overclockers these days. They've taken over a big chunk of the high end CPU cooling market, and they're poised to do the same with video card cooling. A...

Now given that you can get a Z600 with 12 cores of Xeon power, why would you ever need a 113 litre case? These people need their heads examining. We are at a fantastic stage where we really could shrink down computers far more: SSDs are now common place, slim optical drives are little different in ...

Re: Advice needed - reasonably small PC with graphics card
And now that I'm basically done choosing, I got the idea that it would be nice if there was a chassis that was 20 mm thinner than the Fractal Node 304, which is 250 mm wide. Then I could fit it into a cabinet, make some holes, and definitely get rid of all noise. But finding such as case seems hard...

2. I'm having a hard time choosing between CPUs. I've mainly been looking at low-power options such as Xeon E3-1240L v3 , i5-4690T , and i7-4785T or -4790T . There's a GTX 750 Ti thread, too. Check out the member thread embedded within. The MSI card stands out. Disappointingly though the MSI card doesn't have great outputs. This is a fantastic list of cases. Does the date mean there haven't been any recommended cases since 2012? Looking for a mATX case around 25-35l very few made it onto the list, and I'm wondering if any newer cases have appeared that would be recommended as there's quite a few that size.

PSU ramp: Like most quiet builds, it'll be the video card noise that dominates. Even with this really quiet card. So, while the G360 fan might ramp during games, chances are the MSI card's fan will still be dominant. It's a guess. I'm all for educated guesses! You mentioned the be quiet! E9 earlier...
