I'd call it a "whirr" sound.. Seeks are rather muted, somewhat audible though. I'd take the Maxtor over the other two, but to each their own, fluid bearings rock though..

I just picked one up at a decent price, I can tell you it's no Barracuda IV/V or even a Diamondmax 9+ soundwise. I personally can't tell the difference between a Barracuda IV/V and a 9+ with AAM switched for quietness. Of the 3, the WD is a few 'ticks' louder on the sound scale than the other 2.

oops forgot to update: Got the new mobo Monday, the place I got it fortunately has a 30day rma policy. I've written a nicely worded email to antec describing the situation and requesting that I be contacted about this matter. I gave them 3 business days to have someone contact me about this situatio...

According to a Seagate data sheet, these drives may NOT have the Seashield; something that has been attributed in part to the silence of these drives.. Can anyone confirm or deny this with knowledge?

Apparently mobo and p/s are toasted. I took the 380 out of the 660 AMG and tried to power it, it's reading 0.00v+ on the 12v+ line. Took that P/S out of the sonata and tried to fire up a spare system at a friends house and it powered up once, then shut down about a minute later. Couldn't get it to p...

Now I really feel sick (that damned new Sonata)

Well, I'm glad I have another computer to write this on... Came in for lunch and heard a solid steady tone from the new sonata case, it was coming from the computer speakers. screen wouldnt' come on, nothing. Powered it off, opened it up, crispy electronic smell. Pulled the cards and replaced with a...

Yea, I'll be honest about this case, it's nice looking, but with the standard 120mm fan, and the P/S fan, I'm seeing temps across the board have gone up 10-15f. I've got a 2.0a Northwood pushing 55c with a Zalman 5700cu, a hard drive pushing 115f, mobo temps of over 100f and a graphics card witha zm...

Here's the review; upon further reading they are saying that a 92mm won't fit when using the standard p4 mounting..??

Thermalright slk-900 will it take a 92mm fan on a P4 board?

Was just reading one of the reviews about the SLK900U and it mentioned that on a P4 board you can't use a 92mm fan, this is the only review that has mentioned this fact. Anyone out there have a 92mm fan on this item ON a p4 board and have it fit correctly?

I think I'll first try moving the 120mm first to the 2nd mounting area, that way I would get the air across the HD and it is directly in-line with the zm80a as well. I think this might kill two birds with one stone so to speak. If I do pick up another 120mm, I will try to run the fanmate on it at it...

I just replaced a 660Plus AMG with the Sonata. So far the 660plus was just as quiet and my components were running cooler than they are now. No real complaints about the 660, I guess I was taken in by the "Hear the silence" Antec put out on this case... I'm thinking of selling it, if anyone is inter...

I'm not using the optional 120mm fan mount, but given the following temps I've just taken, I don't see that I have a choice.. Mid day the HD is up to 112f, the radeon pro 9700 is up to 125f. CPU is still reporting about 111f and the MB temp is coming back at 91f. This with the 120mm fan plugged into...

One thing that I've noticed with my new Sonata

I've noticed that while CPU and ambient internal *MB* temps haven't risen, my HD temps , measured with either MBM or Dtemp, have risen about 12 degrees. The HD is pretty solid on 107f, where it was running at about 95f in another Antec case. Since the CPU and ambient inside are about the same I'm th...

Back on the topic, there is a nice program that monitors drive temps at http://www.siguardian.com There is a lite version and a more complex one, they do cost, but I think they both have a 30 day trial. Just thought I'd throw it in the discussion :)[/url]

Question about the Sonata for those who have it..

Found the Sonata in stock at Newegg, it will be delivered on Tuesday.. Question, is the 120mm fan using fan isolators to mount it to the case, or is it only the HD? Can't really tell in the description or mechanical drawing on Antec's site and they are closed today.. As a side note, is anyone here u...
