Compressed air is recomended. Here in sweden, a can costs just about 10-15$ (transformed to dollars) and will last quite some time if you don't use it overly often. Just start your vacum cleaner with a clean nozzle (no furry things inside the computer, please!), hold it above the heatsink or the pla...

Your hard drive is most likely to be an extremely loud ball bearing one. I've recently bought an old computer (P200MMX) and it has only got two fans, but it still sounds like a buzzsaw because of the hard drive. Go for a cheap Samsung P80, P120 or a laptop hard drive and I bet the noise will drop. Y...

I guess this is the only CD mobo for overclocking right now. The latter also supports the upcoming Merom CPU , I guess the other ones will do that too, but it's good to see this so early. Where does it say that it supports Merom? I can't find it even though searching, but I just got out of bed.. It...

For the first time I can probably say I'm slightly disapponted with the article. You got the one of the very few Core Duo boards with stock S478 retention, even mounted Ninja and.... did not test it passive. I would have really liked to see the fanless temperature results on this CPU. The T2600 Cor...

just bought a 2GB fast DOK. performance is comprable to the reviewed pocket drive. I don't see the point. why is this such a breakthrough? the only added value is the HW encryption. and that can be done on flash. with 4GB DOK available cheap - no point to go spin drive - silent or not. my 2c First ...

That Pocket Hard Drive looks like it could be used for booting up a small file server, perfect! This is also one of the products which I have seen that has actually been cheaper here in sweden than the suggested retail price "over there"! MikeC, do you have any experience with installing an OS (like...

The SmartDrive from silencio is still way expensive. You'll end up around 700-1000SEK for just one drive enclosure. I came to the point where enclosing my hard drives was the next step in the quest for silence. However, all of a sudden it hit me how expensive it actually would become, and it just wa...

That system is very much like my system! Which hard drive do you have? If you only have one or maybe two Samsung Spinpoints, you will notice a great improvement using two nexus fans and controlling them with something like the Zalman multi-fan controller. It can be made really neat if you swap the a...

If you have an unlimited budget, why not go with the Zalman TNN-500AF? Load it up with a nice AMD X2 or wait for Conroe, and run a 7900GT or perhaps a GTX or SLI if possible. Complete it with a well-silenced raptor and the use of external network storage, you will have silence and performance to a h...

What heatsinks could be used to run this passive? I even doubt that a P-M could be run fanless in this case, since there is from what I know no passive low-profile heatsink that would do the job. Perhaps a Zalman 7000 with the fan removed could work? It might have to be machined down some in order t...

The nForce chips are becoming more and more advanced microprocessors, incorporationg lots of features, and creating large amounts of heat. Strange that they keep using tiny active or not so well working passive solutions, when the chip probably puts out a lot more than a P-M for example, or even mor...
