I am hoping that they will bring out a passive version of this card , I do not need to play games at all on that machine ( I have an Sli machine for games ) it is just for a late night ultra quiet web surfer and the odd download now and then . I have been looking for another Sapphire 3850 ultimate ,...

I have the Sapphire Passive cooled version (Ultimate Edition ) - Video cards just do not come any quieter than that ! Because of it's heatsink design it can have compatibility issues with some Motherboard /case/cpu cooler combinations . My combo is - Gigabyte GA-MA78GPM-DS2H / Antec 3480 /Zalman 870...

Although I do not bother with suspending drives anymore , I have had a Western Digital 36gb Raptor suspended in an old P4 for 4 or more years without an issue The machine is no longer in use but I loaned it to my daughter while we repaired hers and after six months sitting , before which it ran for ...

I have 2 of these cases and have found them to be very sensitive to hard drive vibration - otherwise pretty quiet out of the box - I have Seagate 80gig SATA drives in both of mine , both mounted in the original silicon mountings on the floor of the case . I am using this particular model of hard dri...

I also have a Mini P180 (which is really more like a P182 than a P180), and the Solo compares fairly well to these in terms of low noise potential, although I would give the advantage to the P180/182 series because of the better insulated panels (sandwich design) and the PSU at the bottom (this kee...

The mini P180 is a very well built case - but not that well thought out - From personal experience I have found that If you plan on using a video card with one (even as small as a 7950gt) you lose the second lot of drive bays , it is the same size as a Sonata , the top 200mm fan blocks all but the s...

I have just built up one of these ! Cooling will not be an issue . I am using a 125watt Phenom an 8800gt 5 hard drives , 2 of which are in removeables in the lower CD bays (4 x Samsung 1tb and a 160gb boot drive ) and a DVD tied together with an Asus M3N-VM mobo and an Antec Neo-HE 500 Psu . I am in the Process of solving the problem now . I have ( yesterday) bought a new case , a "mini" P180 and I am either going to put a HR-01+ or a "T.R.U.E." on it with a PWM Arctic cooling 120mm fan ( about 2 out of 5 are very good but 2/5 are pretty bad ) I have been using these for a while ( just ...

I have a suggestion . Have a look at an InWin V508 - they are cheap and well built , the power supply in them is made by fortron but is a bit average ( quiet when it starts up but noisy when it gets warm ) . They are easy to mod to be pretty quiet but not silent and are as small as a micro ATX tower...

I have had a chance to have a close look at one of these now . I absolutely hate the 200mm fan , the chevron shaped holes do not concern me . Zalman CNPS 8700 NT - fan noise
I have just put a Zalman 8700NT on one of my machines only to find that it has the same obnoxious growl as a Panaflo gets on PWM . The cooler is on an Asus M3N-VM motherboard and hooked up to the 4 pin PWM header on the motherboard . Although the temps. are excellent (around 55c on load with an AM2 ...

The fan on your ninja should be pulling enough air over the ram to cool it - so I do not think that is the issue - it may just be that your particular ram runs a bit warm ! You have more airflow in your case than I have in any of mine - and you 8800gts would be putting little extra heat into the cas...

The TRUE is machined flat the HR-01 plus is machined concave ( to suit core2 CPUs ) The AMD is flat so when I put the cooler on there is an air pocket right in the middle of the die . I have jus put a TR XP-90C on as a temporary solution and my idle temp is now 34c but the fan on it a Panaflo 92m is...

Thermalright HR-01 Plus on AM2
I purchased a TR HR-01plus for my less than SPCR friendly AM2 6400+ and I am getting really bad ( worse than the stock cooler ) temps . On removal of the cooler I found that an area at the centre of the heat spreader ( about 2cm diameter is not making contact with the base of the cooler due to the c...

My machines are AM2 based - I was going to get a Ninja but because of the better mounting system (and the SPCR review ) I have bought the Thermalright HR-01 Plus and a PWM fan (Arctic Cooling 120mm) - Could have both been Scythe , IF they had used a decent mounting system and soldered their heatpipe...

The SG03 is a nice looking case and very compact but the PSU sits directly on top of the CPU limiting the choice of CPU coolers and it is a positive pressure case wit the fan at the front with an open grill that lets the fan noise out and if it sits beside your monitor it can be a little bit "in you...

I asked about this because a few years ago ( when I got my 3750AMB case) I put a panaflo 12L on the mobo header and blew the header as soon as I powered up - The board was an Asus P4B266SE 400FSB P4 board with a 2.0 northwood . I checked the Manual for the M2N32-SLI that I am using now , it does not...

I still have Panaflo fans that date back to socket 7 days and are still in use , I have had some become noisy due to the lubricant leaking out - over the years the rubber oil seal on the back of the bearing perishes and goes hard then leaks , the fan gets noisy and is stuffed . Some of these are 8 y...

How safe is it to run 120mm fans on Mobo. headers
I have been wondering if it was safe to run 120mm fans off the fan headers of the motherboard , in my case either Asus A8N-sli premium or Asus M2N32-SLI deluxe . In previous generations ( P3 P4 and socket 462 ) this would blow the fan header or even kill the mobo . I was wondering because If this ca...

With the aftermarket coolers around at present cooling a 100watt cpu is not that difficult even in a quiet machine and with the brute power these things should have would not be a bad trade off if you have a use for it . Out of my league from a financial standpoint - but it would halve my compile ti...
