Cool & Quiet driver and XP SP2 Incompatible

Installed The bios this morning and it seems to be a professional job for once. I then downloaded the CPU driver from AMD and installed it. When the machine rebooted Windows would not go to log on screen , Lmass ( I think) file not found. I could not use master password to log on to recovery console...

I have an a64 3200+ nvidia 6800GT 2 sata drives and a DVD burner. Doing a 3d mark test while overclocking about 2475GHz my old APC 175watt backup power supply blew the circuit breaker. So you have plenty of headroom since my power supply was putting out about 130 watts (assuming 75% effeciency) at t...

Edward, You should consider having the fittings mounted at the top, at least the outlet. The way you have it set up, you are using the radiator as an air trap. Even with a bleeder, you will have to bleed regurlarly, as all air in system will end up there. With an outlet on the top the air will natur...

Thanks for the response Straker, sounds like a good ups. My real question is if the voltage regulation of sub $150 US UPS's is useful or safe when you can get a straight stand by UPS with the same rating for 1/2 the price. AC regulation is good where I live, but you never know about the future. Ive ...

Ed, isn't it fun putting stuff together for the first time. It has distressed me that id and od are rarely specified. If I could offer some advice, your adapter setup looks like it couldn't help causing problems now or in the near future. check danger den http://www.dangerden.com/mall/Misc_Hardware/...

You can use 1 512m or 1G) stick since if its a one channel board socket 754, there will be no performance hit. If it's a 939 you will need 2 sticks to take advantage of dual channel for a marginal bench mark increase The nice thing about the A64 is it runs fast on any compatible memory. Check Epox's...

New UPS advice

Trying to run 3d benchmarks on my new computer my early bx era UPS blows its circuit breaker, so its time for a new one. (250w 170va rated) I plan on a 500-650 watt rated unit, but don't know if its worth getting the cheaper version power regulation,and/or sign wave out put. Two line power regulatio...

Gooserider, I considered using this type of setup but it has a few problems. I was considering how to best use the two outlets on the RBX. #1 Cuts the flow to both circuits. #2 If the resistance of both circuits isn't carefully balanced, the side with high restance (probably the GPU) will see minima...

Don't hold your work piece, always clamp it down. If it's small enough to hold its light enough to be thrown by the tool, then they are racing to see which one will slice you first.

I have a similar set up to yours. Stacker, 3200+, BFG 6800 GT w Tagan 480 PSU. How can you hear the psu over the 6800 fan? I have to stick my fead in the case to hear any rumble from my psu. Same with the cpu fan. I've given a lot of thought to quieting that 6800 fan, and like you concluded that wat...

Yes I meant bios update. All software temp readers read the bios temps. All those temps are relative. All those temps are miscalculated to a lesser to greater extent The point I was trying to make was that if you only changed the heatsink-fan, you've done something wrong. Either your combo doesn't w...

If the only change was the hs fan then that is the problem. Your cpu temps should be equal or better. ( A Bios change can change temp readings as much as 20C)when you remove it there should be very little paste between the cpu and heat sink, with lots of little points and no voids. It is very easy t...

CPU side, NO WAY, it will make the base wavy, so there will be almost no contact area. Thermal paste, even arctic silvers best is a poor replacement for metal to cpu contact. Google lap(ping) heat sink for how to increase metal to cpu contact. Careful you don't bend those fins to much.

Now I'm interested again. I wish they published the stats of how much power it can handle, per channel and over all. do you have any clues?

The front of the cage sits 1 3/4" deeper than my dvd drive. The 1" fan on there now has 1/4" clearance to the CM mesh cover. The crossfow fan is not supplied. Reviews indicate it is almost worthless. It may be useful with a water cooling settup to replace the cpu fan but it seems to me a fan in the circular side vent would do a better job quieter and cheaper. I believe it is available , but don't know where or how much.
