wgragg is going to take over #6 from mas92264 within a day or two or three. wgragg has done a great job, really posting some big points on the board over the last few days. I think the only reason that I was staying close to him in production for a few days prior, is that I must of had a better com...

This guy replaces caps on mobos and apparently does other repairs. Credit for link goes to Ralf Hutter.

May be worth the $50 plus one way shipping to salvage an otherwise good board unless a new one is too close in price to make it worthwhile.

my limited observations have led me to beleive tinkers are less likely to crap out on me than gromacs =). After having to endure haysdb telling everyone over and over to run Prime95 and memtest to check out stability, I finally did so out of desperation when I was having big stability problems. It ...

Same deal here. I'd say that I was losing 100 to 200 ppw per box over the past few days crunching tinkers, especially since the +200 pointers seem to be gone. Back to -advmethods for me on all my AMD folders.

Ohhh.. ok, I guess I misunderstood. I thought you were meaning that it would be up to 95 in your computer room. Nevermind then. :) It can get up to 95 inside during July and August when it's generally more humid. :) With the swamp cooler running, it can be 15F cooler inside, but, actually feel hott...

Picky, picky. Sometimes, rather than edit a previous post, I'll add a 2nd post of "oh, btw" instead of editing the previous post. It just seems to make more sense, sometimes, than to go back and re-write what you already wrote. In conversation, rarely do you say, "forget the last thing I said; what ...

Holy smokes. I would have to jump off a bridge if I ever let my house get that hot. The hi today was 103F and it's about 95 now, at 17:50 pst. Inside with the swamp cooler running it's 84 and a little sticky so the humidity today must be a little high. I think the temp in Phoenix is usually about t...

Ok, this thread at folding-community.org sorta says that the stuck wu will remain in place and the new one will hop over it. They think. Since no one came by that thread screaming that the stuck wu will get deleted, I'm going to quit worrying about it. Sorry about the previous mis-info. I saw this s...

A good buy right now is an SB61G2 which has a $60 rebate. Other good choices would be a Shuttle Zen or an Aopen XC, both reviewed here at SPCR. A somewhat bigger box, with a lot more stuff for less $ is an ASUS Terminator T2. I would steer far away form this Epox box unless you know someone that's g...

I'm on the same page as you regarding heat in the summer. I rarely run the ac during the day in summer as it's just too expensive - $300 mo. Swamp cooler! Daytime temps inside can easily top 95F, even with the swamp cooler running which would put nearly all my home boxes out of action. I think. I gu...

Dukla, Yeah, my understanding is that when the completed wu's roll around to the position that is being held by the untransmitted wu, the untransmitted wu will be lost. There's 10 positions in the queue and it looks like I could loose a completed wu (this is really getting serious, now!) as I'm work...

He thought he would gripe about a few missed points and everyone would rush to comfort him in his time of grief and adjust his score because of the supreme sacrifice that he's made for the folding effort. He deserves it. Thankfully, the thread is now locked. M

How i can iniciate the upload process by hand? Indeed it can be frustrating at times when your wu's don't get uploaded immediately. I can admit to being somwhat annoyed by Tinkers before the points got adjusted. However, I never deleted one and crunched on, knowing that they would soon be behind me and it was just part of the deal. Tinkers had to be processed too and everyone gets them, sooner or later. This guy has issues. In t...
