The point of passive is for less noise, yet they put it in a LOUD, HOT box. I'm sure the other turbo-speed fans in that rig drown out even the stock fan on the gt. Yeah, I get the impression that they were trying to kill it and were genuinely surprised when it didn't die. Agree a more realistic tes...

Review on the Sparkle Passive 8800GT
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3165&p=1
Personally i think the case airflow wasn't good enough, those fans are too far away from the sparkle heatsink to ensure adequate airflow over them.
Thoughts?

Hi Everybody, I am thinking about getting this card (MSI RX2600XT-T2D512EZ) for my NSK2400 HTPC, I'm a little worried about it fitting, and I was wondering if you could take the faceplate part off the cooler that is over the GPU, and slide the heatpipes farther down so the pipes curve closer to the...

ALso, what resolution do you need to run the pc at to get a good pic? Hi, i think the PC runs at 720x480 or 720x576 (depending on pal or ntsc), personally i run at 480 over component. I've got a 17" LCD for doing any work on the pc, the tv is for displaying video only. Bit delayed but there you go....

Another option might be the Sapphire as it seems to wrap the heatpipes around the back edge of the card rather than over the top. Has anyone actually been able to buy one yet? I remember they were 'about to' release them three months ago when i built my htpc but i'm yet to see one. Just checked new...

The time is getting ripe for an SPCR shootout of quiet performance graphics. I nominate the following: 8800GT reference card + HR-03 (passive) 8800GT reference card + HR-03 + suitable fan Sparkle 8800GT "Cool pipe 3" (passive) Sparkle 8800GT "Cool pipe 3" + suitable fan These could be pitched again...

OMG. When dreams come true... a passive powerfull card. I hope is ok to mount this beast in my Antec P150  Looks awesome, a w...

Anybody tried the 2480 and have experience to share? Why would you think this is any different than the NSK2400?? :?: The only difference is the EW PSU, which is a bit quieter. Well, would be nice to know how much better this is, and if it is the only difference. Shame that the 120mm can not be con...

In a different post I believe someone actually flexed their card's heatsink radiator upwards so the heat pipes only curled 90 degrees, rather than 180, so the radiator rested horizontally, and they had correspondence from MSI saying the heat pipes could be bent with gentle force. So I'd be in favor...

Thats bollocks, just quietly. A 24 inch model will happily run off VGA in native res.jeepescu wrote:AFAIK, I need two DVI outputs for this, the VGA only goes to 1600x1200.

i'm sure your chi has skyrocketed. ;) But I wonder if you really had to go to such extremes to make the vidcard fit. Just looking at the photos of the way the heatpipes are fitted, I wonder if you couldn't have loosened the screws that secure the pips, the jam it in closer to the PCB of the vidcard...

Fusion / NSK2400 mod for MSI Heatpipe 8600GT/GTS
In short, the MSI heatpipe 8600GT/GTS / 2600PRO/XT can be made to fit with minimal effort into the Fusion / NSK2400. 8) Hi Everyone! I ended up taking a punt and purchasing an MSI 8600GT to go in my antec Fusion based HTPC. I'd been told that it should fit, but i was skeptical.. which was right, be...

this card claims to be HDCP ready 0.o http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127287 Yep. The 8600GTS has HDCP, the 8600GT does not (passive MSI versions both). I've not been able to get a nice 'bump' in test piece (old case) for the fusion.. looks too forced and uneven, so for the...

Haven't been able to get the intel stock fan to slow down either - it's spinning at 1600RPM, keeping the E6750 @ 15 degrees for the most part. I'm sure that's a config issue though. Planning on going to a mini-ninja, but it's not unbearable as is. Fixed this. The board defaults to a minimum cpu fan...
