so its the rx or swiftech, whichever is cheaper or available. What barbs should i use? Cant seem to find any concrete info on if 8/10, 8/11 or 8/12 will fit or if all will? Also is there any issue with the type of metal used for rad/barbs? I am using the standard zalman fluid plus deionised wate (qu...

The reserator isn't as bad as a lot of people seem to think. I have set mine up today and am getting OK temps with the supplied CPU and GPU blocks on my Phenom 965 C2 and 4870. Can't say wether the 4650 will work with the GPU block, but am pretty sure it will. I am thinking of adding a 120mm radiato...

New board arrived today - all fitted :) First impressions - amazing - it idled at 30c CPU and 19c GPU with about 20c ambient. But after a bit of gaming / OCCT testing the CPU idles around 40c and GPU about 30c. Max temps have been around 60c for CPU and 40c for GPU. I think I am going to go down the...

Reserator 1 V2 flow tube

Set my Reserator up yesterday and bled the system using a variety of methods listed on t'interweb: 1. Having the reserator the highest component in the system 2. Leaning the reserator 40 degrees each side I am now sure all the bubbles are out and that the system is flowing properly. However, the flo...

Yeah was gutted! Still I have spent a few hours stripping down the PC removing all the now un-needed fans - sticking to 2 S-Flex Es - 1 intake, 1 exhaust to keep the NB/SB cool. Two further questions: 1. If I go for a 2nd internal radiator, which is a good one to go for to work alongside the low pow...

I have looked in great detail at the swiftech kits - biggest issue is they include the 655B pump which is non-adjustable rather than the 655 - if there was a way to get the kit with the adjustable pump it would be high up on my list. Buying a mix of bits does add up, and am concerned I may get the w...

Reserator with extra radiator for GPU

I am considering a WC loop for my Phenom 965 and 4870. I know the reserator will not cope with both in the same loop, and I don't want to buy 2. However, would the reserator pump be able to handle a 2nd internal radiator with 2 slow speed fans (using 2 of my S-Flex Es so not adding any noise to the ...

With regard to the E's I usually run them at 660rpm so nice and quiet

How would you compare the sound level of the pump to an S-Flex to give me some kind of idea of how quiet the system could be.

I have looked at the cost of a decent custom loop, and it has put me off a little. This kit looked reasonable value for money though. I would use s-flex e fans instead of the ones in the kit. I need to be sure a wc kit/loop would be worth it over my air setup. Am after silence over performance really.

No plans for RAID - so thats cool. As for noise, I did a test today turning all of the fans off except the PSU (HX620) which is pretty much silent anyway. The noise was coming from the 2 Scythe Quiet Drives. I have added some Akasa Paxmate (not great, but was readily available) and added it to the s...

Anyone else not liking Gentle Typhoons?

My case has 4 (5 inc CPU cooler) S-Flex Es (running at 660rpm) and 2 Gentle Typhoon 1850s running at (990rpm). I find the SFlex fans great, nice noise level and signature. I bought the 2 GTs following reviews that they had a high CFM and a nice noise signature, at higher speeds than most other fans....

Are Segate 7200.11 drives noisy?

I have two 7200.11 1TB drives in Scythe QuietDrive enclosures.

Although they are quieter in the QuietDrives, they are still the nosiest component in my pc. It is the spin noise I mean not the head noise.

Are they noisy drives? Or will any 1TB mechanical drive be as noisy as this?

Thanks for your reply. A month or two ago I probably wouldn't have worried about a performance hit as the only games I played worked 100% fine with the 4870 at full settings (Dragon Age). Curently thinking Saphire Vapor-X 5770, even though it's a similar performance to the 4870.

Does anyone have any experience of this card compared to a Zalman GV1000? The Zalman is quoted as having a noise level of 17 dBA

Which ATI 5 series card to replace 4870 1GB

After modifying my Zalman GV1000 cooler and being very happy with the sound levels, I have come across a snag. I bought an Asus Essence STX sound card, and was unable to install it due to the thickness of the modified cooler, and the screw mounts on the back of the card - this ruled out the small PC...
