I've seen reviews where the psu is using a Protechnic fan instead of a Yate Loon.

It probably depends on where you buy the PSU and whether it's a retail/bulk pack ?

Maybe that would be more quiet than this?

I wouldn't count on that >15% efficiency. Sounds like marketingspeak to me. Forget passive for the 830. Can't be done with an 820 in the P150; I tried, as you know if you read the review. It was not really safe till the Nexus 120 was at ~7V. This was with 21C room ambient. P180+Neo HE430 (or maybe ...

Out of all the hdd's I've taken apart (I use the platters as coasters :)), I've yet to find a connection from the cast to any grounded point on the circuitry, it seems to be totally insulated from the rest of the disc. Maybe there is, but, TBH, I haven't properly looked. Using the Samsung P80 as an...

AOxxx-12AHN = FSPxxx-12THN (Bluestorm)

no idea about the Zxxx-ATX, though. I guess they're the 80mm versions of the Bluestorm ?

Thermaltake noise ratings are crap.

For example, they rated the D12SL-12 (yes, it a yate loon) that they're using for their BigTyphoon as 16dba :x

Funny how yate loon rates the same thing at over 25dba.

No way to install ZM80D-HP (crudely) like in this pic? Notice the hands of the heatsink base

The TP380S w/ the SATA connectors is ATX v1.3 IIRC. Over 20A on the 12v line. Should be enough for your new video card

the older one without SATA provides lesser power on the 12v line if i'm not wrong. Uh...better not try it

The ZM80D-HP is enough to cool any card that Gigabyte dares to sell passive. That includes the 6600GT.

The ZM80* fits on AGP 6200/6600 cards with some awkward modifications.

sleeve/ball bearing: how do i tell?

how do I tell whether a fan uses ball or sleeve bearings just by looking at the fan? The fan in question is a 120mm Yate Loon with a generic label. The rpm readout is 1200rpm, which corresponds with a D12 B L-12 on Yate Loon's website. However, I have seen mention of someone having a D12 S L-12 that...

probably a bad mount by the worker at Gigabyte's factory. I was getting 90+C load temps on my 6600 before. Had to redo the Zalman a few times before temps became acceptable. However, for the premium manufacturers charge for passive cards, you wouldn't expect to receive such a shoddy product from Gig...
