The most selled i7, the 920, uses around the same power as the tested CPU in D0-revision, doesn't it? AFAIK, there are 2 variants of the i7-920, both rated for 130W TDP. My hands on experience with two samples of the i7-920 convinces me that it does indeed pull something like 130W. Our Pentium D950...

- Heavier than a Ninja or HR-01 - More expensive than a Ninja or HR-01 plus a Nexus 120mm fan - Worse cooling than a Ninja 2 or HR-01 I think this thing is obsolete before it even rolls off the production line. Obsolete is a very strong word, a serious overstatement here. You also bend the data to ...

For a single piece of hardware they should give levels in Sound Power (SWL), not pressure. It's easier to calculate and there is not the same problems, becuase the power level is the power level, regardless of distance. I'd also consider the new WD or Samsung 500GB/platter drives over the Hitachi. Their TB drive was originally 5 platters, and (i think) they only updated it to 4 platters some time ago but haven't really caught up to the ones we mentioned. Also, make sure that S1 is a Rev.2! I am pretty sure they up...

You'd have to mod the S1 to fit the 4770- chop off 1" from the left end of all the fins. However the 4850 might be able to be cooled passively, and an S1 also fits... You won't be able to get a S1 on a 4770. The GPU position is too far to the left. Dammit, that is a bummer. I was pretty set on the 4770 now, and evetuelly upgrading the GPU later, due to the difficulity of cooling the 4890. Do you know any coolers that do fit, wich are effective? And as a side que...

Is the 4890 Vapor-x as quiet as the 4850-model? I also notice that is seems to have other cpacitors, does that mean that it will not suffer from coil-whine? I have the following setup planned. Antec P180 or eventually buy me a p183. MB MSI X58 Pro-E Intel Core i7 920 Thermalright HR-01 Plus with some fan. VGA: Some AMD 4770 or 4890 variant. Accelero S1 GPU cooler. Seasonic M12D 850W, eventually the Enermax Modu 625, but its hard to get a hold of here in...

A solution could be to add additional cooling, but is that even possible with todays mobos? Most of them have a heatpipe-based setup, so i would think modding them would be difficult?

MSI i7-build, when does the Mobo draw the most power?

I am planning in a i7-build, and i want it to be quiet, quiet in the sense that i can't here that its on. However som people have reported problems with overheating the NB on z58-boards, and on MSI in particular, since a quiet build won't have a very large aiirflow i am a bit concerned about this. A...

It seems the upgrade is not big from p182, but how about the p180? Lets say you are building a fairly power hungry single GPU-system, for instance a i7 with 4850/70. Is the p183 worth the upgrade from p180?

I don't see what RAID support would add to WHS. It's disk management is one of it's niftier features. Given that the network would be the main bottleneck, there would be no real performance gain. It will store files redundantly (2 copies on 2 separate drives) if you so choose to spend the disk spac...

WHS has some nice features, but ultimatly comes up short for me unfortantly, it has no raid5-support, and I won't trust it for a while after the problem with file-corruption, wich is the worst a fileserver can do. The pooling-system is nice though.

The US electrical network uses 60 Hz, doesn't it? If so it seems pretty likely that a motor is the cause. If you try a opule of diffrente microphone positions, you shuld be able to see if its a room resonance i guess.
