@that Linux guy I had a typo in a table cell - should work now. @frenchie With the side panel off and the case about a foot away they were inaudible. Even placing my ear to the opening they were inaudible. I was very impressed as my experience with some other 40mm fans has shown me hisses and whines...

New build complete - mostly.
I've pretty much finished my new build. A few departures from the usual cast of "quiet" characters, but the final reult is quiet quiet if not silent. The only real culprit remains the video card cooler. That may be remedied soon.

Yes the button is a bit rubbery feeling and does have a bit of vertical wiggle room on mine as well thouhg I hadn't really noticed till you mentioned it. SATA optical drives sometimes take a bit longer to identify the media and what not. Many BIOS setups have a setting where you can adjust this delay.

I gained a surprising amount of space on the PSU side of the center divider by removing the plastic fan holder and soft mounting the fan using rubber fan mounts. I did the same with the front mounted mid-case fan in the upper chamber. In fact I soft mounted all the case fans :) The only sounds I hea...

I type this as I sit with a 19" CRT and a 27" LCD side by side. I love the size of the LCD screen, and the slimness and the power saving, the digital input, indeed all the inputs are useful and nice to have. If only it had the response, colour range and sharpness regardless of resolution on the CRT ...

I use the HR-01 Plus with fanduct in an Antec P182 case. The fanduct is placed between the HS and the standard Antec TriCool outtake fan at lowest speed. My motherboard is an Asus P5Q-E with a Quad Core Q9450 CPU. I have an HR-01 Plus on a Q9650. I have a duct but haven't installed it yet. BIOS rep...

There is always a tradeoff. If you want maximum power savings and are willing to accept reduced versatility and capacity then some of the consumer NAS solutions are a good option. If you want expandable storage and are willing to accept slightly higher power usage you can go to some of the larger co...

@bonestonne yes indeed. One reason I sued good electrical tape. Duct tape is just too messy and I have no gaffers tape. But you have to use high quality electric tape or you end up in the same sitation as the duct tape with an adhesive mess. I'll likey redo it eventually. @bozar Yep, a slightly deep...

P182 Cable management question.
I am the recent proud owner of a P182 for a new workstation build. All has gone well baring a minor glitch or two and a scun knuckle getting the EATX connector in but I have discovered a problem. I can't seem to get the extra power cabling to lie flat enough on the back of the motherboard plate to g...

A friend just dropped a project in my lap. He wants to put an aftermarket cooler on his NB and CPU. Now I have AC's MX-2 here that I use for my stuff, but he lef...

But if the output is the same and there is no difference at all, how can anything about it be subjective? In legal circles that's known as "assuming facts not in evidence". You seem to want to be contentious on the issue. I chose not to play that game. I stated my opinion that Matrox has consistant...

While such things are often quite subjective, I have not seen a video card that can beat Matrox for quality of image (all other things being equal). The old 3dLabs cards were their only competition for 2D performance and image quality. The only thing that ever kept them from a larger market share wa...

Perhaps a bit far afield for these forums, but I was wondering if anyone knew which TPM module one used on an Asus P5E64WS Evolution motherboard? The only Phenom listed at 140W at the moment is the 9950. If you read around the various forums and review sites it seems it's actually 125W like the 9850 and AMD badged it for 140 to get a particular certification. That said, most 790FX boards, the new Gigabyte 790GX and the GigaByte MA78GPM-DS2H (...

will take issue with the whole percolation thing. I still believe that some of the best coffee I've had is using an old tin percolator on camping trips with my dad when I was younger.
