What you see is an example... I'm glad you explained this. I assumed that it was a slam but didn't understand the slam so couldn't respond. It was enough of a slam to accuse me being a Democrat - which I'm not - unless it was referring to being a member of a democracy - which I am. My fear is that ...

It's not, otherwise I would not ask it here. Wasn't trying to insinuate anything. In my experience, case manuals are lacking - sometimes non-existent. Subjects are covered at random and even if described not necessarily helpful. IMO, a large % is devoted to legal disclaimers and safety stuff - don'...

Re: Need advice choosing between two AMD processors
My main concern is noise, and the need to buy an aftermarket fan/heatsink The stock hsf is not anywhere quiet unless it's not powered up. This is of course all subjective. You didn't mention the case but the latest small Scythe and Thermalrights look good. Even the AC FreezerPro64 ($20) is much bet...

Probably aware of this since I've seen mention of it somewhere before, but there is a consistently reproducible example in the topic "Article Discussion/ Thermalright XP120 cooler: The new King". The last page is accessible neither by clicking on Next in page 6 nor clicking on 7.

And why do the Antec HD bays force you to position them vertically? I would assume so more can fit in the same space. Those I mount horizontally always last significantly longer. I don't have the knowledge of an EE (or mechanical E) but would assume with the current speeds the orientation has becom...

Hi, anyone who has the P182. Can you tell me how to replace the lower chamber fan? It's really stuck inside something. Do I have to unscrew something? tkz No screws, only pressure. The fan is attached by the usual screws to the bracket which is removable. I would suggest removing both side panels a...

Curious about this author's results. I have a pc with similar components - abit nf-m2, amd5600, samsung500, dvd, 2-1gb ddr2-800 (the author doesn't specify the size), Seasonic300II - and get 43w at idle, 115 load using a kill-a-watt. MikeC, et. al.: congrats on the exposure. The characterizations weren't particularly accurate but we'll take what we can get. Curious about the path of genetics - daddy Bush was sharp as a tack (whether one agreed with his politics or not). the US public who don't seem to care much for overtly smart politicians. they are conflating "Mandelas" with the man himself. I noticed this possibility after looking at it further. Anyway getting off of my rant about Bush, he is synonymous with "stupid" and so much so that everytime he does something stupid that is caught on camera it appear in the press - I find it rather amusing, but rather depressing that he is running the USA. Re: Seasonic S12II-380 Power Supply
(As an aside, the EcoPC Reviewer in me asks how much more efficient the S12II-330 might be at super low loads. It's a question we'll try to answer in the near future.) I purchased the 330 recently and was disappointed by the fan noise - the loudest source in the case after stopping all other fans. ...

I don't know of any PWM fans that have 4pin 'molex' connectors also so we'll just assume the usual Nexus-like 3/4pin configuration. there wouldnt be any voltage differential across the lines, If a fan is connected to the mb sysfan (of which most? are speed controlled), then there could be a differen...

Couldn't resist... so it seems like maybe we are using the term "static pressure" incorrectly. Looks like the folks (at least marketing) at Nexus needs some [re]education. http://www.nexustek.nl/axm-8200_am2-real-silent-cpu-cooler.htm "... The RPM has been set to a maximum of quiet 1500 RPM speed, y...

So, in short, connecting a 3 pin fan to a 4 pin connector on the mainboard will spin your fan, but it may not allow the board to control the fan as well. The Gigabyte GA-965GM-S2 4pin sysfan connector supports and controls both 3 & 4pin fans. The cpufan connector on the abit nf-m2 supports control ...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Static_pressure Thanks for starting my homework for me... It'll take a while before I grok it. First, I'll have to get used to thinking of air as a fluid. The flow will be at a maximum when pressure is zero, and the pressure will be at a maximum when the flow is zero. So they ...

Re: Raptor in a Nexus Enclosure?
getting the windowed Raptor was a mistake Or expensive thrill. I got one so I could see the heads in action. It was interesting but not worth the pain trying to quiet it. It doesn't seem to run any hotter than the non-windowed one in my experience though - but definitely louder and annoying at idle...

As far as all this applies to quiet pc cooling, it seems that there are two camps as far as cases go - one with and the other without vents in the sides. At first blush it would seem that the multitude of vents is going to offer better cooling but ultimately it seems like it would create a confused ...

It comes down to CFM. I'm feeling dense in that I don't understand how CFM can be decoupled from pressure - must have missed something in school. When I think of a fan blowing on something I think of the pressure of the air at the something. Are there multiple points at which pressure is considered...
