How long after you got the new motherboard did these problems start? It may need to be RMA'd.

Hmmm... Are you using an MSI K8N Neo Platinum, by any chance? The older BIOS versions have an issue with certain Athlon64 chips (the Clawhammers, I believe) where their temperature measurements are inaccurate,

Hmmm... Actually, that'll only get you one way (i.e., from fan to fanmate), so you'd still need another adaptor (for fanmate to video card)... Also, the XFX card uses the 6600GT's stock cooling, no? Wouldn't they all be like that?

The BQE has 2 external 3.5" bays, and 4 external 5.25" bays. IIRC, it has 5 or 6 internal 3.5" bays.

i'm trying to come up with a way to make it quiet in my shuttle. any advice? i was thinking a fanmate or something. if i could mod the ends to use the 2 pin adapters...?[/img] There's an easier way than modding the ends. Get the appropriate 3-pin and 2-pin connectors and some wires, and make a smal...

I've got the NV Silencer 5 on my 6800GT. It's not particularly quiet, but it's certainly better than the stock cooling. Still, I'd suggest the Zalman or Thermaltake with a good, quiet fan on it.

What difference does it make? Well, they'd need to put out a lot more product lines, for one thing. They could still sell lots of them, they probably already do sell quieter drives to some assemblers. I'm sure they've already done a cost-benefit analysis and determined it isn't worth it. I think th...

MSI site listing

I found it nice and cheap here (I found it with a couple places up to 30 bucks cheaper, but they don't look as reputable).

It looks like a damned nice board; I'll be getting it for my Aria system, assuming I get to build it.

Edit: Actually... how much space (in mm, preferably) is there between the top of the card itself (not the NV Silencer 5) and the drive bay?

Also, use the highest purity isopropyl alcohol you can find (preferably at least 90% or so), since you don't want to leave residue behind.
