Rei, the url that you gave leads to an expired session. Would you copy and paste the text? I'm curious!

Thanks!

I've heard that there may be a problem with the length of the 20 or 24 pin power connector from the PSU (seated at the bottom of the case). It may not be able reach the mobo or it's a very very tight stretch. Is this a concern for the p180? It's not a critical issue with the P180 and the Seasonic S...

milleron,

what are your temperatures for your passively cooled Gigabyte x800xl. I have details about my system here. These cards seem to run much hotter than the ones with the fans mounted on them, and I'm wondering how much benefit they get from the duct fan. Thanks in advance!

I have fresh Measurements and I like the top duct! The addition of the top cardboard duct (shown by the purple arrow in the original post) results in a CPU that is 5 degrees cooler and a GPU that is 4 degrees cooler under load. I’m keeping the duct in place! The table below shows max temperatures (C...

My 4600 chip works fine with a passively cooled Ninja. I'll bet that your 4800 would work fine passively cooled as well. My system uses the same case and motherboard and is described here . It idles near 30C and reaches near 43 when stressed. See the link for more details. The Ninja fits nicely with...

The chart below shows temperatures (C) reported from Speedfan while the two upper fans were running at low speed. I'm still using the stock Antec fans and I'm running them at the lowest speed. Lenny is correct in that they have no tach output, so I don't know what speed they are running. They are V...

I recently posted some comments on my system here . It's similar to the one you describe. My system has a 4600 (X2) without a fan on the Ninja, so I'm sure that a 3200+ would be fine. See the other thread for temperature data and other details. I also have 2 GB (2x1GB) of Patriot memory which isn't ...

Yes, it will be linear. The rate of heat flow between two systems is proportional to the temperature difference between two systems (assuming that nothing else changes). In your case, one "system" is the ambient environment, and the other system is your computer system. If your CPU idles at 40C whil...

P180: Compatible System Components & Comments

Good people of SPCR, there seems to be some interest in how well various components work inside the P180 case, so I thought that I’d give some comments about the components in my system. Maybe some others could give feedback about their components in this thread as well. CASE: P180: 38mm lower chamb...

I have the passively cooled Gigabyte version that seems to run much hotter. How are you measuring the temperature? Is there anyone else here running the Gigabyte version with passive cooling? The version of the utility that came with my Gigabyte card didn't show the temperature, so I had to use ATIT...

I have the P180 with a Seasonic S12 430 and the cables reach OK to my Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard. . The top 4 pin connector barely reaches, but it does indeed work just fine. I'm planning to get an extension so that I can route the cable better, but it's not essential.

Good job on the Tivo, and good thinking on the fan situation. I suspect you've gone as far as you can without changing out the HDD. The hard drive can be replaced too! I replaced my 40 GB drive with a really quiet Seagate 120 GB drive. I don't remember which model, but it was an early FSB model. Th...

Cheap Sound Meter?

Does anyone know if a cheap sound meter is available? A friend of mine used to have a Radio Shack sound meter which cost around $35, though they don't seem to sell this item anymore. I don't remember how sensitive it was, but it did have two settings.... I think "A" and "B". I would just like to be ...

Thanks for the input everyone! Interitus, I've never heard the ATX12v 2.0 standard described as "flawed", but that's an interesting observation. Here's an example that I found of what you describe. The lower wattage PSU has a higher 12V rail, and the two 12V rails from the higher PSU do not match. T...

Thank you once again for your info! It looks like I'll have to get a bottom fanned PSU if I want a ATX12V 2.0 compliant Seasonic. You mentioned that the S12 controller tents to run slowly until almost 200W output. A graph on the Seasonic brochure suggests that the fan begins to speedup at 35% max lo...
