Sure you can suspend a 2.5" HDD in the 2.5" bay! Should be no problem, really. I'm not really an expert on PSUs, I personally swear by fanless units like PicoPSU and such. But rest assured, that no matter what case you get, you can make it extremely quiet. I use an old hacked up ThermalTake case, wh...

Hi, and welcome to the forum! The parts you have laid out there are low-power, thus easy to make a quiet PC out of. So that's a very good start! :) However, I do agree with mkk on the chassis/PSU. I'd consider another PSU - in fact, I recommend that you get a PicoPSU! IMO nothing beat those for quie...

Well, I went from a Raptor150 HDD to MTRON 32 GB SDD, and I really notice the speed. Even the workstation I use at work with two RAID 0+1 HDD@15K RPM is noticeable slower when opening programs like openoffice and such. I usually don't reboot linux, so I can't say anything much boot times, but when I...

I'd recommend at least one fan. And the HDD will be a major source of noise and will overshadow any decent 600rpm 120mm fan. So I suggest you look more into silencing the HDD before looking into fanless case designa. IMO the entire fanless concept is a moot point, as long as you use good fans. You'r...

Anyone tried double Scythe Quiet Drive'ing a 2.5" HDD?
As title says! Has anyone tried putting a 2.5" harddrive into two Scythe Quiet Drives? If yes, how would this fare hard mounted? I'm pretty satisfied with my soft mounted 3.5" HDD in a quiet drive, but I want to move to a mini-ITX case, so I probably will need to hard mount the HDD unit in the 5.25"...

20W when turned off?
So I borrowed my friends Wattmeter and tested everything I basically had in the house. The only shock I got, was that my PC uses 20 watts when turned off. I'm glad I know now, so I know that I have to turn off on the socket also, but what could be the cause of this? I'm using a 200W Pico PSU...

Any 2.5" HDD >1TB?
Hey, just curious here.
Has anyone seen a 2.5" form factor drive, larger than 1TB. I've seen 1TB from Western Digital available, but nothing larger. Also, these drives are a bit taller. But my question is has anyone released, say, 1.5TB 2.5"?

Hey, thank you for the opinions! I don't really do anything that requires 3D, I even have Compiz disabled. I do use a molecular 3D viewer from time to time, but that works smooth even on my old laptop which has integrated graphics. So my GS8400 is way more than I'll ever need in that sense. So I'm w...

i5/i3 IGP - user experiences?
Hey, just wondering if anyone here uses an i5 or i3, only using the on-chip graphics? What are your experiences? Is video playback smooth? Also, I'm a linux-only guy, so have anyone here had Debian or Ubuntu on a Intel H55 platform? Reason that I'm asking, is that I'm considering an upgrade to my ri...

Here is the installed metal mesh. It finishes off the back quite nicely. (For details on where I got the material, see the above post^). How much headroom do you have in there if you want to put in a bigger top down cooler or a mini-tower cooler? I wanted to ask the same question! Would if fit some...

The short answer is yes, it will be audible. It's a difficult case you have, in terms of silencing options. Have you considered an after market cooling solution? The 5750 has a 86 watts TDP, so it is not the most power hungry GPU out there. EDIT: And get a larger desk, lol, or at least remove all th...
