I have three SP2004C lying at home waiting for the rest of the computer :-). I don't have anything to test them on yet. I figured that the samsung's would be the best choice. I wanted three at once, no need to give me advice anymore. If you have something to share with spcr readers then that'd be ok.

I've recieved the first components for my computer, three SP2004C. All nidec's as i suspected. As i have nothing else i can't test the drives for a while. Just wanted everyone to get another conformation that the new drives are all nidecs. http://img169.echo.cx/img169/1240/p60900091vu.th.jpg http://...

I already ordered the benq, noise is not an extreme issue as i won't be using the drive when i'm sleeping :)

The benq had some features which made me choose it.

Sory for bothering everyone with this.

Benq DW1620 Pro or LG GSA-4163B

Which one should i get? Noise is not the only concern, the drive should work properly. (media acceptance, write qualities, etc)

I would not recommend a seagate 7200.8, any particular reason for wanting one?

You could see if cpu-z can identify them: http://www.cpuid.org/cpuz.php

You should look in the spd section. One of the modules in this computer is recognized and the other isn't.

Seagate had the barracuda IV (and later V) which were supposed to be very quiet drives. The 7200.7 is louder and the 7200.8 is even louder and not considered useable in a quiet computer, because of seek noises. This is what i know based on reading the forums here, i have never had a seagate drive in...

I intend to run the fans at a slow speed and i need pressure in the case so the air leaves trough the psu and doesn't enter that way. If the number of transistors is so much smaller, that means a native 5+12 pipe architecture. But it would be so not-nVidia to do that... Anyway, it appears it's only for the 256MB PCI-E with 600 MHz memory. To replace my 6600GT, I think I'll wait until the vanilla GeForce7 will be available at acce...

Samsung labels their HD lines after their max capacity per platter. P120 has 120GB (well, actually 125GB) per platter, for a maximum of 250GB with two platters (on the SP2504C, still unavailable). My new PC, which I'm picking up this weekend, will have an SP2004C. It's bound to beat my current Pent...

This should give you an indication that there is a special chip for 6800 non-GT pci express cards.

Newer 6800 non-GT's use a NV41 iirc which was made for the 6800 and doesn't have pixelines and other things that can be unlocked. I could be wrong though. It could also be that NV41 is only used on pci-e cards. (it's a native pci express chip)

The 6800GT's do support it, but the nv40 chip has a design flaw that prevents the use of the WMV9 decoder. The rest should work. The NV41 (later 6800 non-GT's, not the early ones) and the NV43 don't have this problem.

Which harddrive(s) to choose?

In about a month i'll buy a computer.(probably a bit more) I've already decided it will have 3 harddrives. One for OS and such, one for music and one for any other storage. Check some psu specs.

Phantom 350 has very low minimum loads: http://www.antec.com/specs/Phantom350_spe.html

I've seen higher requirements, but usually not higher than 1 A or so on each rail.

As far as i know the 6800 uses a NV41 core with 12 pipelines. Only early 6800's used a crippled NV40.
