"In 1x DVD playback AOpen dvd-1648 is amongst the least noisy."
Is there some freeware software that will allow me to configure my AOpen to do this? (also, is it selectable betweeb max rip speed and silent dvd playback)?

Anyone know how quiet the hard drives in the iMac G5 are?
I now the new ones haven't been released yet, but anyone know how quiet the hard drives in these Apple computers typically are?
Also, anyone know what brand they use?

"I read here that AMDs are generally snappier and faster than P4s. " Would it be true to say that the snappiness (latency or instantaneous responsiveness, not quickness to load a large file) of a system would be dependent on memory timings alone? And would snappiness be the same at fsb 166 vs. fsb 2...

Any difference between Seasonic Power Angel and Kill-A-Watt?
I've seen reviewers on these website use the Seasonic Power Angel to measure total power draw of systems under test.
Where is a good place to buy these online?
Also, is there any difference between this a the Kill-a-Watt?

I read elsewhere that others change generic standard paste approximately every year (apparently turns to a powder?) and quality thermal interface material (Artic Silver, etc.) about every three years. True? (do others think it is also accurate that unused - i. e. not exposed to on off heat cycles pr...

PSU fan swap in Aspire Xqpack?
Anyone know how easy or hard it is to replace the stock 80 mm fan in the psu with something like a Panaflo L1a? Is it as simple as opening the psu, disconnecting a fan lead, and popping in a 2 or 3 lead Panaflo tail into the pcb? Or is there actually soldering involved? Also, do you think the Panafl...

"SilverStone touts the quiet nature of the LC11. It is a quiet case. However, it's not quite as quiet as I thought it may be, especially given the silent video card. It is by no means noisy, but there is audible white noise from the case and power supply fans. Fortunately, it completely disappears w...

Current impressions of psu fan in Silverstone LC11?
I am thinking about using this case for creating an audio server for my hi-fi system, so ideally I would like an extremely quiet / silent system. I read the SPCR review ( http://silentpcreview.com/article228-page1.html ) that stated that the psu fan was the loudest component and it had a high pitche...

Anyone bought a Western Digital drive recently? (how quiet?)
Anybody bought a Western Digital hard drive recently?
If so, could you post the model and your impressions of it's quietness or noisiness?
If available, date of manufacture would also be appreciated!

Anybody owned a whiny/noisy, made in 2005 WD1600JD?
I know that Western Digital has instituted Whispher Quiet technology in there drives and drives manufactured in 2005 should have it. I've also read some recent reports about whiny WD drives. Anybody owned a whiny/noisy, made in 2005 160 GB Western Digital hard drive (WD1600JD)? Also, are there any p...

Are currently produced Western Digital WD1600JB very quiet?
I read that Western Digital is now using WhispherQuiet technology (FDB and AAM?) on their 320 GB JB hard drives.
Are currently produced WD1600JB just as quiet? If so, is there a date of manufacture cut-off or packaging clues as to the quiet ones?
Thanks in advance!

SVC.com now lists the 120 mm Nexus for $15.49 + ship:
http://www.svc.com/d12sl-12.html
They also have the 92 mm Nexus, I believe for $12.49.
Don't know how shipping cost compare with the Cooler Guys.

Compared to the black rubber ones in the Antec Sonata II, how much better are the larger, white silicone hard drive mounts in the Antec Sonata II?
