The 1.2GHz C3 is rated at 18 watts max, so it should be possible to cool a celery 667 with a half decent heatsink with some airflow. As for overclocking, you'll probably need to turn up the wind a bit, I guess it's a case of playing with things to get temperatures you're happy with. Is it just me, o...

I agree with all that's been said - I've previously used a C3 800 passively cooled with an old coolermaster heatsink (cheap and nasty aluminium). My temperatures never went above 30degC with only my PSU providing airflow. Recently I changed to a 1.2GHz model with a zalman CNPS6000-CU and I also cool...

You could try installing speedfan (just do a google search), this might allow you control the fan speed if the BIOS is supported (although I think this might be unlikely). You could try also the nexus laptop cooler thing, if the fans are temperature controlled then this might help. However since it ...

You'd hope that since laptops use the parts we'd all like to have in desktop form (low power CPU, quiet HD, etc), they should be pretty quiet. If people have got noisey laptops they could try the passive cooler nexus makes - but I don't know how good it is. It's been mensioned before here: http://fo...

You could try using one the small (passively cooled) PSUs poeple use for mini-ITX creations, for example:
http://www.mini-itx.com/store/default.asp?c=10
The only problem being they don't kick out a lot of power, but you might get away with a couple of hard disks.

The Zalman is pretty quiet, although wouldn't be classed by many people on SPR as silent (but they have high standards). It all depends how quiet you want to get - it's relatively easy to build a system using off the shelf parts that you don't notice most of the time, but to get one that you simply ...

On the suject of PSU's, you're system won't use even 300 watts so I'm sure 550W is overkill! (I've used my 400W zalman to power a dual 2800 athlon system with 4 hard disks without problems). But you're the boss and I suppose with 550W there is no chance you'll ever need run out of power. PowerSnooze...

Hi danielvh, welcome to SPR! :D Ok hear goes, I've tried to put the most important ones first... VGA card - replace the stock cooler with somth...

I agree with zak that presentation models tend to be a lot worse for noise than home cinema models. If you're thinking about getting a projector I'd look up some reviews in specialist magazines - I've read a few projector reviews in What HiFi, and they winged when anything had a bad fan/said if it w...

To attach the heat pipe you'd have to remove the heatsink attached to the EPIA and replace it. The only difficulty could be removing the EPIA heatsink - these are attached by thermal adhesive (I think either cooling or heating will make removal easier - I've frozen a board before and the heatsink ca...

This case looks like the same deal as the HUSH and Tranquil systems - these do include an intrgrated EPIA M10000, but the case contains it's own heat pipe based passive cooling system for the CPU - this replaces the 'fansink' making it a completely passively cooled system. The slots in the front of ...

Hi Emmett What temperature is you CPU running at when just ticking over and when at full load? I would only get concerned if it's over 65 degrees. I don't think there is much difference between the zalman 3100 Cu and the 6000. It might be worth just trying a bigger fan with your present heatsink. Al...

Hey I love a bit of passive cooling - the less fans the better ideally, but one problem is the Heatlane Zen costs nearly twice the price of the Zalman 7000 AlCu. A couple of other alternatives for Geforce are zalman ZM17-CU (comes with the glue and takes less room than the northbrige heatsink) or the Arctic-Cooling VGA Silencer (this would be a bit of an overkill, but in the UK it's significantly cheaper than the zalman heatpipe).
