I have tried both AnyDVD HD and Nero DriveSpeed to slow down my LG Blu-Ray drive but it doesn't seem to work. It doesnt make a loud spinning noise like my old Pioneer but like a screaching noise that repeats every second. I also have a Samsung DVD drive and seems to be quiet noisy as well. Such as s...

MX-2 is better than AS-5 Btw.. :D Is this true or are you just joking? And what is MX-2? Not joking. I was going to buy AS-5 for my new build then someone replied MX-2 is better. Checked out some reviews and they are right - it's only 1 - 2c but I will take anything! (could be margin of error like ...

Yes. It comes with a goo like the stock Intel cooler. Ditch it and put some real thermal paste :P Lies! The S1 Rev 2 comes with MX-2 already applied to it. You just told him to replace the pre-applied MX-2 with MX-2 =P http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=147&data=3&disc=[/b] LOL I read revie...

These days both "Dolby Digital Live" and "DTS Connect" exist which let you encode a 5.1 stream into SPDIF. Not many sound chips support it yet. So soon there will be something superior (finally) to SoundStorm. My Realtek 889A (106db SNR) supports DTS Connect but it's not enabled as Gigabyte haven't ...

I've got it installed - sitting at 33-39c for the last 3 hours on windows! I haven't been able to install the L brackets (I've got the first part done easy, it's getting the top on is difficult as you need to push both ends). I will try again in a few days. The bog standard 3870 XT heatsink/fan only...

Thanks i've ordered it - should be here on Tuesday. On more question I'm afraid (the last I promise). What would be the best way to apply the MX-2? Put a dollop on the GPU core and then let the heatsink squeeze it or use a credit card and smooth it out? Should I only put it onto the GPU core or shou...

you dont have to replace the memory/voltage regulator heatsinks on the stock 3870s. also, since you're getting the sapphire 3870, i dont suppose you also have a 1080p tv to test the hdmi connection on the sapphire card do you? Thanks for both of the replies! One more question - Would I be better of...

I've followed the excellent advice on here. The Antec on low are way too loud so I replaced them. My setup: Slipstream 1200 as exhaust, Slipstream 800 as intake Slipstream 800 on Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme Top fan removed and blocked off. The bottom fan was removed. Case vents around the PSU blo...

Re: 3-pin fan - 4-pin motherboard for CPU fan?
I was thinking (guessing really) that the motherboard would be able to speed up and slow down the fans, but the zalman would keep the overall rotation speed down. The Zalman allows you to adjust the speed of the fans and thus the airflow and noise they generate. It does this by altering the voltage...

It's not available. You can get them imported from jab-tech.com which is what I did (I ordered 3 - 2 800s and 1 1200). The 1200 connected to a fan controller goes down to about 800 at 5v. Gives you more room for any hot days :D (not that we get many of those). 800 seems to work well as a intake fan ...

3-pin fan - 4-pin motherboard for CPU fan?
I have the Zalman MFC-1 Plus fan controller connected upto to 3 Slipstream fans (which are 3 pin). My motherboard has a 4-pin connector for the CPU fan. The Zalman plugs into the Slipstream but also includes an extra 3-pin wire to plug into the motherboard for RPM monitoring (but not control). Can I...

How should I "run them in" at 12v or 5v? Or does it not matter. Got my Slipstreams today and hooked them upto a fan controller (Zalman MFC-1 Plus). I have the 1200 as exhaust, 800 as intake and 800 on CPU (TBD waiting on TRUE UK stock). 1200@12v is audible and shifts a lot of air (unlike some manufa...
